Factory Stereo

Factory Stereo
So, I was wondering my Lexus 350 came with the standard factory stereo installed with an aux component inside the arm rest area. I bought and aux cable to connect my ipod so i wouldn't have to deal with the whole CD senerio but the quality is just not the same. I've been wathcing a few videos on Youtube and saw a few people buy an aftermarket connection that connect with the stereo it's self. Is the quality the same as the AUX? I wish mine came with the Mark Levinson edition but fortunately it didn't, Lol. Also if i was to just convert the whole stereo itself would the steering wheel options still be in effect? That's the main reason why i don't want to convert.
Thanks Guys,
Appreciate the Info.

You can buy modules that allow you to use your steering wheel controls with a aftermarket radio install here's one on ebay:
