oh and sorry to see that - you had them less than a week?
He's 19, and in college, and right now is taking EMS classes in the evening, so not working right now. He's an extremely responsible kid, but sometimes can be absent minded. If I had to pay back my dad for all the stuff I did, I'd be one poor person. He'll be paying me back when he's changing my diaper when I'm an old man.

Did I just share too much?

Also notice the cut on the sidewall. Not sure if that is now a safety issue
I would definitely replace that tire. The good news is at least a cheap hubcap is on there vs a wheel. Easy and cheap replacement.

The other thing is just pull up the dash cam and see what happened, no need to guess. My son flinged a hockey puck at my car by accident and it put a dent in my hood. All that was needed was the dash cam when we were in the car and he started sweating bullets.

No need to pull up footage. He told me exactly what happened, and what I already knew... he curbed the tire while parking and not paying attention

OK LoL . Yeah, a replacement is not that expensive. For now, I'm just going to leave it as it is

My OCD wouldn't allow me to drive around with that big scrape.

It's actually not that bad. I took the pic with a high resolution lense and hommed in. If you stand a few feet away, you don't even notice it

New tire has been ordered from Tirerack. It will ship to my mechanic by Monday. Definitely not a cheap tire due to being EV specific, but better safe than sorry

Out of curiosity, what's the price (and is it front or rear)? Also, sorry about the scrape on the wheel. The wheels do stick out slightly from the tire on my MYP so I know this is in my future as my wife drives the car more often..!

It's the front passenger wheel. The price of the tire on Tirerack was $308:

The good thing about Tirerack is they ship free overnight, and they give free hazard protection, so if this happens during the warranty period, they will replace the tire at pro rated pricing

you could always take a black marker to the scraped areas.
