The Evolution of my Model Y
The one thing Tesla does, and does extremely well is building the foundation of their cars over time through software updates. When I first received delivery of my Model Y in May 2023, it was a great car, with a great foundation, but it lacked some features. For example, Parking Assist. It pretty rudimentary and kind of sucked. Using cameras and visual, it gave you basic estimates of how far an object was to your front, side and rear. You couldn't really rely on it too much, for example a few times it was wrong about how far the curb was and I ended up curbing my tires and Aero covers. But over the last year, they steadily built on it, training the AI through visuals, making it more robust, I don't even need to use the backup camera. The car will even back itself out of tight spaces. So without further ado, the Model Y updates in pictures
June 2023
In the second pic, it is interpreting the trash can next to it as being a Truck
September 2023
Parking Assist
November 2023
Now recognizes objects like Trash cans and stop signs, as well as road markings
December 2023
This update now gives you a buffer zone, guided path, and shows parking spot outlines
January 2024
This latest update now shows you objects on the ground like leaves
May 2024
The latest update now gives you a detailed layout of the road, the cars on it, brake light status etc. You can literally look at the screen and drive based on the information presented. The second pic is Parking Assist, you just press the spot you want to park in, and the car does the rest

Basically with the way the cameras display the new layout of the road, I can literally drive without looking at the road and just the screen...but of course not recommended to do this. As I understand, it can also detect potholes

Do you think the visualization we're getting with the FSD trial will remain after it's over? I've heard that it goes back to what we had before.

Not bad for a mid-sized family SUV. Imagine if I had the Performance upgrade...
