Tesla has had auto high beams since I bought the car last year. Same with the Polestar. Adaptive is different, they light up areas without blinding other drivers on the road

This is also the difference with Tesla vs other manufacturers, my BMW has the capability but it is coded off in the U.S. and it would be so easy for BMW to code in with a software update now that they are legal but they just won’t do it and never have which is so disappointing. Tesla is the exact opposite.

Ah now I understand, we aren’t talking adaptive which a lot of cars already have in the U.S. Sounds like we are talking matrix lights which just became legal last year I believe. I know the new S has the capability but I think the older headlights on mine don’t have the ability.

I think the performance dual motor Y's have adaptive the standard dual motor does not. This is 2022 don't know about other years.

Nice, my car doesn't have them but amazingly they can be retrofitted.

and as far as i can tell from what i read, u.s. cars can have matrix lights installed but can't use their full potential unless they're hacked ('coded').

Today I noticed discoloration around the window trim of my Y on both sides
Doing a search found that this is caused by contactless car washes. And wouldn't you know it, I recently took it to one. Not sure how it causes this, maybe a chemical they use.
Good news though. It can be restored by using Turtle wax according to several posts in the Tesla forum. Not sure how that works, but there were several before and after pics
