"It appears that initial construction work at Tesla’s Gigafactory Mexico site has begun. This was hinted at in aerial videos shared by Mexican media at the upcoming electric vehicle complex.

Gigafactory Mexico is arguably the most ambitious electric vehicle production facility from Tesla. Unlike facilities like Giga Berlin, which are producing popular existing vehicles like the Model Y crossover, Gigafactory Mexico is tasked with the production of the yet-to-be-unveiled next-generation platform. The vehicle is expected to be priced at around $25,000"

Haha! Right. That poster absolutely knows. Going back in some of his post history, seems like he flys drones over gigatex regularly.

Joe Tegtmeyer has been doing drone shots of Tesla factories since forever. At Gigafactory Shanghai they are jamming drones to prevent spy shots of Highland.

More Tesla price cuts in China

Tesla cuts prices again in China for Model Y, Model 3

  • Tesla shares fell after the company announced a fresh round of price cuts in mainland China.
  • The discounts and subsidy will apply to the Model Y crossover and the Model 3 sedan, the company said.
  • The company had pushed to undercut competitors aggressively in the mainland, competing with domestic automakers to gain market share
Tesla has once again cut prices in mainland China, a competitive move that sent shares sliding as much as 3% in Monday morning trading.

Shares pared back their earlier losses to trade slightly negative, down around 1.5% by midday. The automaker announced the moves in a Weibo post late Sunday evening

Tesla has slashed its prices by one-fifth in a single year, according to a new set of data from Kelley Blue Book, while electric vehicle transaction prices as a whole have improved by roughly 18 percent.

KBB tracks average transaction prices and how they compare to the previous month and the same month from a year prior.

Tesla’s average transaction price in July was $54,660, a 0.8 percent improvement from June ($55,105), but that is nothing compared to how much the automaker has improved since July of 2022

This is a weird configuration. I wonder if they are going to flip for this or actually cut it back to 75-90kW batteries a like before (from 100kW) presently.

Makes kinda sense for Model S at 320Mioes, but the model x at 269miles is horrible

I think this is Tesla responding to the low entry point of the Lucids now...

So much momentum for Tesla. As TSLA stock keeps pulling back, I'll keep buying with the intention to never sell.

If I had some extra cash, I would be picking up some myself. Unfortunately my money is tied up in two new cars and remodelling of our closets

Never is a really long time.

I'm the same way but of course will eventually cash out. The markets are so bizarre when TSLA was near $300 a pile of analysts said buy buy buy. When it was $110 the general sentiment was get off this sinking ship. There were even some heavy short positions opened at around $100.

while tsla still has HUGE forward growth potential it's already priced for 'perfection' so continues stock gains can still be difficult and it's certainly volatile.
strategically they're doing a lot to continue to disrupt the markets (cost reduction, capacity expansion, price reduction, product upgrades) and obviously have products that haven't contributed that much yet (solar roofs, home batteries, cybertruck). i'd rate the cybertruck as a big unknown as to how it will do in the market, despite all the pre-orders. that was before elon musk bought 'x' and became irrationally hated by so many.

i think the biggest risk to tesla overall is other car companies. the chinese brands haven't ventured much outside china. the established brands obviously have mixed results and capacity so far but that will change, but maybe not as quickly as tesla continues to grow.

about NACS and charging, not sure how much tesla makes off the charging network and whether there will be much of a contribution once non-tesla vehicles start using it. charging a bunch of cars quickly from solar requires an enormous solar array and batteries, so otherewise tesla is basically reselling power company juice.

to me, the tesla platform, ecosystem and charging network are great. the cars to me are a mixed bag with too many gimmicks and missing features. obviously tons of people love 'em already though and barring screw ups or a new 'darling' to come along (apple car anyone?), those owners should remain loyal, but given how reliable EVs are, i don't expect people will be trading them in every 3 or 4 years! plus, people who bought a couple of years ago have been crushed by price drops, many who financed are likely now upside down.
