Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) is set to access up to $20 billion in revenues from its recent Supercharger deals with Ford, General Motors, and various other automakers, Dan Ives of Wedbush said in a note this morning.

Tesla’s Supercharger Network is the most robust and expansive on the planet, and earlier this Summer, it gained massive attention when it struck deals with various OEMs to allow their EVs to access the charging infrastructure starting in Spring 2024

Ives wrote in a note this morning to investors:

“To dive deeper into this sum-of-the-parts valuation, we modeled & projected out Tesla’s supercharger network, taking into account access & revenues from other OEMs using stations across the United States. Ultimately, we estimate that Tesla’s supercharger business will be roughly 3%-6% of total revenues, translating to a $10 billion – $20 billion business by 2030.”

It's becoming more and more clear that Tesla's end game is to use massive amounts of video data to teach their AI how to navigate anywhere. Cars, robots it doesn't matter what the mechanical device is.

I guess Elon mode is not so "hidden" any more with help of this article..! That should not make it into mass releases. Tesla obviously needs its own way to have key people access alpha and beta versions of SW improvements that don't require hands on the wheel, but that doesn't seem like something that should make its way to others. My car got a major FSD update last night, I have to assume it's hidden in there somewhere.

Yep, I believe 8 or 9 times. When I first got my P2 in Jan of 2022 and did my first trip in March, there wasn't as many non Tesla EV's on the road, so there was less stress on them, and more of them were available. By September, there was an explosion of EV's, it was like the floodgates opened. Taking my Polestar to SoCal was more like a roll of the dice. One trip in particular turned from 7 hours to 10 hours due to 3 out of 4 EA chargers being out of commission at a major charging point.

I bought the Model Y specifically because I travel to SoCal a lot, and got tired of dealing with EA's crappy network. Half their chargers are always down. If they are not down, they are throttled down to either 50 kW or 80 kW. Where my brother lives, the nearest EA is 12 miles away, and again they are always full with at least 1 or 2 chargers offline. I would still take my Polestar to SoCal if I had to, but I would have to leave early in the morning to avoid having to compete with the two out of four available chargers.

With Tesla chargers, I don't have this issue at all. I can travel anytime I want, and there is literally Tesla chargers half mile from my brothers house

Tesla is constantly building them out. On my last trip, they were adding more chargers to an already massive charging site. In Firebaugh, California there is a large Tesla charging site between Northern Cal and Southern Cal, they just bought another piece of land where a historic restaurant used to be, that area can easily fit another 50 chargers. I'm zero worried about lack of Tesla chargers, at least in the travel corridor between NorCal and SoCal. That being said, expanding chargers in the cities themselves may be a challenge. For example in Irvine, CA they have two massive charging sites that are extremely busy, and expanding those charger sites is more difficult because space constraints

Wow, huge news day for Tesla.

Model S and X standard ranges are gone from the lineup, both get substantial price cuts. S LR: $74,990. X LR: $79,990.

X now qualifies for the $7,500 tax credit since the price is under $80k.

Lots of improvements to the model 3 (source: Sawyer Merritt on Twitter). This is a MAJOR upgrade to this car:
- Range increase 12%
- 50% of parts in car are new
- Redesigned interior with new door cards
- More premium interior materials
- Two new colors (ultra red and stealth grey)
- No more stalks - everything is on the steering wheel now
- New dash design
- Ambient LED lighting
- 30% decrease in wind and ambient noise, 20% improvement in road noise
- Acoustic glass all around
- Ventilated front seats, also heated
- New speaker bar in the roof, now 17 speakers in the car including 2 subs and 2 amps

Tesla drops price of Model S/X, Model X now qualifies for US tax credit

https://electrek.co/2023/09/01/tesla...us-tax-credit/

Tesla has cut prices on the Model S and X, with price drops of 15-19% in the US on all trim levels (and similar cuts in the rest of the world), except for the brand-new Standard Range model which was introduced just over two weeks ago and is now no longer availableGood news and bad news from Tesla today – the cheapest Model S and Model X, the $78,490/$88,490 Standard Range version, is gone. We hardly knew ye.

But that model has been replaced with price cuts across all the rest of Tesla’s S and X range, leading today’s base price of the larger-battery versions of both cars to be cheaper than yesterday’s base price of the smaller-battery versions.

And so, today you can get a Model S for a base price of $74,990, $3,500 less than yesterday’s lowest price, or a Model X for $79,990, $8,500 less than yesterday:

Tesla drops price of Model S/X, Model X now qualifies for US tax credit

Good news and bad news from Tesla today – the cheapest Model S and Model X, the $78,490/$88,490 Standard Range version, is gone.

Beyond that, today’s “base model” now has the larger battery, with an estimated EPA range of 405 miles for the S and 348 miles for the X. Yesterday’s base model was the software-limited Standard Range, with 320/269 miles of range for S and X respectively. Although, do note that Tesla is prone to overstating its range numbers, and these cars actually haven’t changed hardware-wise, as the SR model had the same battery, just locked behind software.

And as for another stealth price drop – all paint colors are now included in the base price, so you’re no longer locked to a single “standard” paint color if you want the base price (as is the case for grey Model 3s right now). So you can choose between white, black, grey, blue, or red for free.

But wait, there’s more! Due to a quirk in how the US Federal EV Tax Credit works, the Model X can now actually be cheaper than the Model S after incentives – at least in its absolute base trim.

The Inflation Reduction Act set MSRP caps on what vehicles can qualify for the $7,500 tax credit, with a threshold of $55k for cars and $80k for trucks and SUVs. Prior to now, the Model S and X were both above that cap, and the S is still above the car cap, but the X is now below the SUV cap. This means that certain buyers (who do not run afoul of the the IRA’s income caps of 150k single/300k married filing jointly) can actually get an X for less than an S, as long as they buy a base model X with no options physically attached from the factory (well, except for the now-free paint colors).

Tesla says that a reduction in credit availability is likely to happen at the end of this year, because the credit has stricter requirements that go into place at the end of each year. But we won’t know for certain about that until the time comes.

On the other end of the price spectrum, Plaid versions of both vehicles have dropped in price as well, from $108,490 yesterday to $89,990 today.

And in the rest of the world, prices have dropped as well. Across Europe and in China, prices are down on both models in similar amounts as in the US (though not in right-hand drive countries, as the two models aren’t available in RHD).

It appears it will finally be a "premium" car to match the premium price! 👍
