I want to see a graph of smiles per miles.

J/k but probably one exists. 🤓

So the only question about that is whether the basis for comparison is reasonably consistent. For example, vehicles on autopilot are, presumably, mostly driving on freeways etc., whereas the "US average" is likely going to include town and urban driving where accidents are inevitably occurring with higher frequency. In other words, unless the data are normalized the results could potentially be skewed. From reading the safety report, it doesn't appear that it is normalized.

Autopilot is nothing more than cruise control. I suspect the same numbers are true for any car when using cruise control vs when not using it.

You're correct, it's basically "smart cruise control". It works pretty much the same way as our Ioniq 5's smart cruise, except the difference is Hyundai and other automakers use radar, while Tesla uses just cameras

Is this what the new Tesla Model Y looks like?

A young visual artist put together some Tesla Model Y refresh renders that look like they could be pretty close to what the actual upcoming new version of the popular electric SUV will look like.

After the Model 3 refresh launched last year, we have been expecting a Model Y refresh to follow.

It started last year with a Reuters report claiming Tesla was planning a Model Y refresh called Juniper for 2024.

Later, a Bloomberg report added that Tesla planned to release a Model Y refresh in “mid-2024”.

Tesla has shut does rumor down. Tesla and CEO Elon Musk have stated that Tesla doesn’t plan to refresh the Model Y “this year.” It’s important to note that both Tesla and Musk specifically mentioned “this year” when trying to shut down rumors of a new Model Y.

It led many to think that a refresh is coming, but for early next year.

Sure enough, we have started to spot camouflaged Model Y prototypes around California in the last month, and more recently, a leak revealed a few new design aspects that are coming to the Model Y refresh.

Dominic, a young visual artist from Germany, used this recent leak to produce renders of the new Model Y:

We can see how the rear lightbar seen on the leak changes the look of the back of the Model Y.

The front end is sharper, inspired by the Model 3 refresh. It also features its own lightbar to match the backend, but it’s not clear if that is going to make it.

Yep, it's more than a little misleading. You're not using Autopilot on city/urban/residential streets which is where accidents are likely to occur with the greatest frequency.

That looks like a more than plausible render in light of the updates to the Model 3 and the "leaked" pics. I think that looks great.

I don't hate them either, if they do end up being added, it's totally fine with me, I just prefer they don't go that direction

BREAKING: For the first time ever, Tesla has introduced a 3-year bundle for the Model S and Model X in the U.S. and Canada for $5,000. It's a new configurable option that includes 3 years of Free Supercharging, FSD (Supervised) and Premium connectivity.

Seems like a bad deal. 35X$99 = $3465. 3x$99 = $297. That $3762. You will need to use $1238 of supercharging to even break even.
