just about ANY new tires will ride a lot better (and quieter) than worn out ones.

i must have sufficient ocd that i could never put different brands/models of tires front and back and i would have gone ahead and replaced all 4 now, but that's just me!

Very true. I had to just do the front 2 for now because the rear tires were going to take another 4-5 days to arrive and that likely would've had my battery die while at Firestone... So this'll result in another trip there, but my battery anxiety has been put to rest.. which is priceless! Now it lets me drive around on these front ones for about a month and make sure I want to keep those as the brand for all 4. If I hate them for some reason, I'd ditch the front two and do the original brand I was gonna buy but those were even more delayed than these.

That's why almost any tire has good reviews people replace clapped out rubber and think, wow these new tires are the best.

Tesla Model Y just a hair away from becoming the US’ best-selling vehicle: report

The Model Y may not be the best-performing Tesla, nor is it the most exciting design-wise, but it is a vehicle that presents a fantastic balance of price, features, safety, and utility. This balance, as it turns out, is allowing the Tesla Model Y to come within striking distance of becoming the United States’ best-selling vehicle by volume.

Wolf Street Corp., citing recent data from Experian, noted that there seems to be a change happening in the U.S.’ auto sector this year. Over the years, the Ford F-150 and full-sized pickups have maintained an iron grip at the top of the country’s best-selling vehicles list. But with high-end pickup trucks now approaching and even moving past the $100,000 mark, the vehicles are no longer as attainable as they were in the past.

This has resulted in the Ford F-150 dropping to No.3 in the United States’ best-selling vehicle list through the second quarter of 2024 with a share of 2.7%. Above the F-150 were two vehicles that still offer a decent amount of utility at a significantly lower price—the Tesla Model Y and the Toyota RAV4, both of which attained a share of 2.8% through the end of Q2 2024.

NEWS: The @Tesla Model Y is very close to becoming the #1 bestselling vehicle in the U.S. for the first time ever, according to new data from Experian.

Through Q2, Model Y had 2.8% share, its highest share ever (up from 2.6% in Q1), and just a hair below the Toyota RAV4.

— Sawyer Merritt (@SawyerMerritt) September 20, 2024
The Model Y’s 2.8% share of the US auto market is its highest share ever, an increase from its 2.6% share in Q1 2024. With this, the Model Y is now just “a hair away from being the #1 best-selling model in the U.S.,” Wolf Street noted. This would be an immense achievement for the Model Y. Last year, after all, the all-electric crossover became the world’s best-selling car, but it was not able to secure the same spot in the United States. This may change this year.

Amidst the Tesla Model Y’s growth in the U.S. auto sector, the market share of battery electric vehicles in the country has grown to a record 9.0% in the second quarter, up from 8.1% year-over-year. These results, which do not include hybrids and plug-in hybrids, suggest that battery electric cars like the Model Y are still eating market share from combustion-powered vehicles, quite unlike the declining EV demand narrative prevalent in mainstream media.

With the tax credit and the gas savings, the Y is an exceptional value. If you’re a suburban small family, you should really consider it as half of a two-car fleet. Being able to run the climate without an ICE motor and all of the safety features and Netflix make these really helpful in doing things with your fam.

I've had my 2023 LR since June 2023, now more than 24k miles later it's our most driven car. We still have our 2013 Sienna, but only use it two or three times a year. Just filled it up Sunday after 3 months

The Rivian gets the bulk of the miles for us. Ody has Costco, supermarket, and valet only location duties

My car is updating to 2024.27.25 tonight which upon some initial research will give me some FSD improvements, but I'll also be getting A.S.S. tonight (with the upgrade, LOL..!)

I hope that is the case. I'm excited to try it out - I've seen a few YouTube vids of it navigating parking lots very well and bystanders are wondering what in the world is happening..!

Does every car get A.S.S. or only the ones with FSD?

Looks too much like an inverted IS light bar for me. I think the current 3 is fantastic

Side note - tried the latest FSD in my wife's car last night since my Rivian was updating and was very impressed! It was dark and rainy and the places where it used to struggle (trash cans by the curb, street curving 90 degrees with no stop sign, etc) were handled much better. Only area where it struggled was turning into my driveway. It signaled, slowed, then shook the wheel back and forth somewhat violently to position the car for the left into the driveway. I didn't like that so I took over and it gave me an obstruction warning as I was pulling in like I was going to run into the curb or something

I can't make my brain not expand that acronym as "Auto Start/Stop" and spend several seconds very confused why an EV would need such a feature.

My car updated last night and I tested A.S.S. and it worked perfectly. Even though I knew what to expect I still found it fascinating and had a big smile on my face. I had to watch a couple of YouTube videos to find someone actually show on the app how you activate it. For anyone else interested, you go to the App, press "Summon", wait a few seconds until you see all of the cameras showing live feed on the app, and then you have to press and hold "Go to Target" on the app. In my case, I didn't have to adjust the 'target' as it located where I was standing accurately.

One important detail is I tried it in my neighborhood and got a notification in the app that it can't do it on public roads. So I went to lunch and tried it in a parking lot. I was probably about 50-60 yards from the car when I summoned it and it came right to me.
