Yes it does the distance perimeter around the car on the top down view.

It also works with curbs too. In addition, when you look at the car with the 360 view, it also overlays the distance perimeter around the car in a 3D way. I’ll try to get a pic of this.

Apparently I don't know much about this new vision thing but I think it has cameras to track the front of the car. It can "see" the marks on parking lot. When I did the test drive, it beeped when I got closer to the (front) line and then displayed "STOP".

Mercedes has more options when you want to view the car. It also has an option where it shows the sides so you can pin point against the curbs like tesla. I personally prefer 360 on BMW. When I go into a lot, I can see how the car sits on the lot. The only one thing to note is it has a "gray" area due to the position of the camera. It can not see right below the bumper.

I thought the "wheels" on Tesla looked odd. I was talking with my friend and he said those are not wheels. They are wheel covers.

I think it sees the parking stop from a distance. At that point it said "Stop".

This is what the rims look like under the Aero covers

I don't know what it senses in your case. I went out with my friend again (23 Model) and I asked him to park against a curb. He was confused. When it displayed "STOP", he stopped. We came out and I saw about 1.5-2 feet from the curb to the bumper. Thanks for the wheel picture. It makes sense now. I saw one with one of these and three with covers. I thought he used a different wheel due to a flat.

It doesn’t make sense how the cameras from windshield can see the parking block? It’s not physically possible. Even traditional parking sensor cannot detect concrete block near the bumper.

I was wondering same thing. Lol

Could it be possible the cameras are just for video to play on the screen and there are other sensors that detect distance & objects and then that data is overlaid on the images?

Have no idea how it's done, just thoughts.

I think it sees it from a distance, than makes a calculation. It could have been just seeing the wall, but I have yet to hit a parking block, even in parking lots with no walls or objects in front of me

There are three cameras on the mirror but a radar on the hood by the logo and sensors on the side of the bumper. It could very well use the cameras to sense the wall but probably use the radar and sensors to detect in the parking lot because it can “see” the parking line in front of it. IMO 360 is an advantage in this case because you can act see in front of the car.

Which Tesla has those? Our '23 MY has no sensors and no radar.

Currently all Model Ys being produced for the last 2+ years have not had radar and for the last 1+ years have not had radar or parking sensors.

“Tesla Vision” = Cameras only

It was rumored that HW4 would bring back radar in a new form (HD Radar), but that is yet to be the case.

nice, the Rivian has something similar to the view in the non-snipped above. Screen also shows a view of either the front or rear view cameras at the same time, I'll take a pic when I get in the car later today. I just wish the side views would tilt down when in reverse. I'm still not great with just the 360 view

Did you watch the YT? If you're right, why would it be on released manual? What hw do you think helps display the distance when you approach a curb? It has to be from something in/near the bumper. No?

The YouTube video is 4 months old. It was incorrect then and is incorrect now.

Model Y does not have radar or HD radar, it’s camera only.

The only way Model Y sees the parking block or curb is from the camera at the top of the windshield. It approximates the distance and uses its best guess as to where the block or curb is when it’s out of sight of the camera.
