Rivian's still pretty bullish about having a gross profit by the end of the year. Will be interesting to see if they can pull it off. After hours surge in NVDA is quite nice, basically clawing back losses from earlier in the week.

Not Model S’ there is a hold on those until they figure out the EPA issue with range. They haven’t been able to sell 2024 models and hope to open up sales in March. Probably not a big deal but many buyers waiting impatiently. Tesla should just reduce the EPA range of the Model S long range and be done with it so they can sell them again. They already reduced the Plaid range. I also read that the Model Y LR cars are on hold as well (but not sure how true that is).

Isn't it just a software update? My Y LR already reflects the new rating, I'm down to 305 from 330 miles range.

As you already know, Tesla's bread and butter is the Y and 3. Yesterday I saw hundreds of them in the pickup area waiting for their owners

On the Model S forum they are saying it’s an EPA rating issue.

Honda Prologue first drives are starting to trickle out. Range/power estimates are nothing to write home about (212HP / 296 miles FWD or 288HP / 273 miles AWD), but charging speed seems like a miss at 155kW

Haven't had the opportunity to watch the Honda Prologue video yet, but to the point on charging speed its charge curve that's far more important. Nominally faster peak charge rates can flatter to deceive if the rate can't be sustained for long before it falls off a cliff. Maybe the video gets into that, but the general point remains, focus on curve as much if not more than peak rate. High rates for a short burst make for good specs on paper but not necessarily faster overall charging speed.

I've watched part of the Out of Spec, and Honda says they don't want him to charge it, but he spoke to the chief engineer, and it doesn't hold it's curve very long.

Not very impressive power, but it's enough for the average driver, and it's not a crappy, dronny turbocharged four cylinder with a CVT, something that I hope to God I never have to experience again in my lifetime.

Since it's co-developed by GM, if it's anything like the Chevy Bolt, the driving experience will be pretty good

I think the influx of slower, more 'normal' EVs will be a net positive for adoption. Will get people interested at a lower price, help convince them that maybe they don't drive 500 miles a day as often as they think, and still enjoy the smooth acceleration that an EV offers.

Then they can buy some more performance oriented vehicles

Exactly. The average person will feel that this has plenty of power. My daughter's Chevy Bolt has only 200 hp, but it drives and feels better any four cylinder, and is smoother than any six or eight. Our 2020 Hyundai Ioniq EV only had 138 hp, and that's actually the car that got me interested in EV's, believe it or not

No way should anyone buy this over a KIA or Hyundai never mind a Tesla. Bad charging speed, poor rear headroom, FWD based with no frunk and not even a Honda. And it's $60,000.

I would never buy one, skipping through the video, the infotainment screen and software sucks. But someone who's a typical Honda buyer is most likely not going to buy a Hyundai or Tesla, and they are used to sucky software and infotainment. I've been around enough Honda owners, they are fiercely loyal to the brand..even though this is technically a GM product.

Just listen to the lady who behind the camera, who's owned a ton of Honda's

I'm listening to the same part of the vid she's making massive excuses, no matter what Kyle says she is not having it. Goes on about how you can't kill a Honda Kyle says it's not a Honda. Her response, it's backed up by Honda. Amazing brand loyalty.

Isn't this on GM's newest EV platform with their game changing battery packs?

Lol I told you! I know a ton of Honda loyalists, and if you ever want them to adopt EV's, this is it. They don't care that Tesla (or Hyundai) has better software or screens, they are fine with Honda's crappy infotainment. They don't care that Tesla's perform better, they are fine with 1.5L turbocharged four cylinders, so this is a massive upgrade.

I've mentioned before that I briefly had a Civic Si. When sold it a year later, I was excommunicated by a large portion of the CivcX community

Has there ever been a collaborative model that was successful long term? Honda is going with their own BEV platform this is a stopgap buyers will end up with an orphan.

So RIVN touched all time lows today if you believe in the company now would be the time. Gary Black is pumping Rivian's tires but won't say if he is a buyer today.
