Another example is the Mach E which I think looks great and is reasonably priced for an EV. Ford is doing 72 MONTHS financing at 0%. If that is not giving the car away when rates are 6% or higher.

Tesla will need to lower prices again later this year to continue volume increases.
Tesla just raised prices for the Model Y

We were technically in a recession after Covid but our government changed the definition. The average citizen is keeping less money in their pocket now than ever due to inflation, high rates and stagnant wages.

But things like multiple Banks failing in last 2 years, record inflation, commercial RE blowing up where average transaction now has owner putting in 30-40% equity on a refi for office/retail property. Ye all those are not great. Lol

The good thing is most of us live in US which still has the strongest and most resilient economy.
The economy has cooled overall, people are now more cautious in their spending. I can drive over to the Toyota dealership half a mile from my work and walk out with a fully loaded Camry SE under $30k, they are currently advertising $600 below MSRP. I can walk out with a loaded Corolla hybrid for under $25k. I can also get that same 72 month financing, which even credit unions are offering.

I remember reading here on CL as far back as 2020 that the EV gravy train would soon be over. Still waiting....

Well, I have three EV's (technically four if you count my daughters Bolt) and one ICE that we've only used once this year. Says the married couple with two kids

Just playing with you

Lol I just mean there wouldn’t be a thing called range anxiety because you could take a gas car.

EV perfect for around town. Take ICE on trips.

Just speaking for myself, none of us (my wife and kids) have range anxiety. Zero. Since 2022 I've been driving my EV's to SoCal. My last trip in my Y was a 1300 mile trip as I was driving all over SoCal for four days. I only keep our Sienna because it's paid off, it's an 8 seater and a minivan. If I have a choice of taking the Sienna or the Y on a trip, it's the Y I'm taking unless I have more than 5 passengers. Range anxiety is something suffered by those who don't own or drive EV's. Eventually my Sienna is going away and it's going to be replace by an EV, it looks like it's between a Model X or Kia EV9

But I'm not going to tell anyone what they should own. If people want to own an EV for around town and an ICE for travell and weekends, I say more power to them

Living in California would alleviate it for sure.

But as soon as I got down below 40% away from home and my charger I’d get anxious.

That's why I'm speaking only for myself. 40 percent is a lot. I drove 58 miles from my aunts house in Three Rivers, which is near Visalia in the Central Valley to the nearest supercharger starting out with 32 percent. I got to the chargers with 13 percent. The mapping/travel planner will let you know if you can make it or not. I always use it when I travel, and it is extremely accurate, taking into account everything from speed, wind, traffic and temp. Hasn't let me down yet

40% is 120 miles of range in a car with 300 miles of range, not time to get nervous at all

I don't live in California and just have an EV and and zero range anxiety.

Most EVs don't achieve that number and it can vary widely based on certain factors.

I'm not saying I'd have any trouble with 40% but I wouldn't want to be TOOO far away from my home charger.
