Yep, Tesla needs to get to work over there and add more chargers and charging locations, because from what I'm hearing from you, demand is high in the areas you drove through. They should at least replace the older chargers, but they probably don't want to create any disruptions

Guess how many have been built as of May 2024?
EIGHT.
Not EIGHT hundred. Not EIGHT thousand. Just EIGHT.

Bob4 has a point...where did all the funding go for super chargers? EA today is just as crappy as it was in 2022, when I first used their chargers. And their customer service seems to have gotten worse since then. At least from my perspective trying to use them a few times this year

And all those billions for charging station requires the station to be the less reliable CCS. NACS doesn't qualify. Tesla asked if they could qualify for the money too if they built NACS chargers at the same locations where the CCS were built, but the idea wasn't even considered.

Even with the adapters, Tesla NACS stations don't qualify for the government money. The only way they can qualify is if they also install CCS chargers alongside their NACS stations.
Ridiculous waste of money.
Ridiculous waste of money.

I’m not just saying Tesla’s own network, I’m saying in general. Where I was this weekend there were no options for fast charging except for Tesla superchargers. The other charging options were 15kw chargers which is zero help to anyone. If the economics for charging are there then maybe other manufacturers should start investing in fast chargers especially with more and more EVs being sold here.
I met my wife at a different event for my daughter close to where I was and I’m friends with one of the dads who has a EQE AMG and i asked if he drove it and he said no because he didn’t want to take a chance not being able to charge. If the gov’t wants people over here to adopt EVs the charging infrastructure has to be better.

It's probably not great for the market to have all of the chargers across the country be run by Tesla, opening the door down the road for them to significantly increase charging prices for non-Tesla EV's.

I did the same this weekend for our trip to the mountains in NC. Superchargers were few and far between. I could have made it work going a route I didn't want to go and driving out of my way for 20+ minutes at times, but not worth the trouble when 5 minutes at a gas station was all I needed.

Give it some time, everyone will eventually have a good charging infrastructure. Going back to 2020, even here in California only the brave and bold would travel in an EV. Now it's the same as travelling in a gas car if you have a Tesla, and it's doable if you have a non Tesla EV as well
