I charge free at work when I go in. The mobile charger gets me by at home. But, I may get a Tesla l2 charger for a referral if it goes thru. Still expensive to install. But I'm not going anywhere to charge for free that is out of my way.

Depending on your house you can install a L2 charger for $1,000. Not expensive IMO.

It all ends up paying for itself. I had a 240v circuit installed in 2022, $1100 for the electrician, $400 for the subpanel, $450 for the Electrify Home L2 charger. I was also able to write off a small portion of it on my Fed taxes. It will pay for itself

Not really. More for convenience than anything. How do you figure it will recover the lowest quote of $1500 that I've been given?

My cost of charging each car is roughly $50 to $60 per month, we have 4 EV's, if we were fueling them it would be easily $70 a week per car, so it's more than convenience. Do the math

Talking about the cost of "fueling" has nothing to do with an individual's prosperity, but more about how adding a home charger at home will pay for itself over time with the added convenience of being able to fuel at home. I'm sure even without that factor, Bob can afford it

I'm not comparing vs gas. I'm comparing vs just using the slower mobile charger like I have been and only hitting a nearby supercharger if it gets too low.

Since I've had the Y it has became clear that 95% of our driving habits = charging at home. I suspect this is the case for most people which means you save a bunch of time not going to a gas station.

I literally paid a retired licensed electrician $90 yesterday to hardwire my charger. Granted I did help a little as I wanted to learn. I bought the wire from Home Depot. He brought wall plate, junction box and other little wire crippler thing from Lowe’s. It was like $8 and some change. Gave him $90 for his labor + parts. I paid $479 for the charger. Utility company gave me $250 gift card for upgrading to Level 2.
