You don't think idiots driving them has something to do with that?

No, I wasn't trying to say that. Plenty of cars out there that are better performers and will eat my lunch. I was trying to answer a question that there are no cars that are in the fuel efficient category that matches it's performance. No need for apologies

Are Corvette owners inherently idiots vs. people that buy other brand of sports cars?

Over here in the Bay area, C8 drivers I see are mostly an older demographic. Although one of our engineers who's probably in his mid 30's owns one. He brought it to flip it and got stuck with it. He occasionally brings it to the office. Take a guess what his daily driver is

I have a ton of respect for cars like the C8, so don't think I'm putting them down. My point is, cheaper EV'S meet or exceed performance expectations. Their biggest weakness is range, and if they are not Tesla's, then charging infrastructure as well
I was going to mention BMW 240i and Cadillac CTS-V blackwing earlier. I think the BMW is around $50k but it’s a 2dr. I think the blackwing is $80k+

The Blackwing is definitely out, the M240i is a contender, but my Polestar easily outperform it. Also fuel and long term maint costs are way higher. That said, it's a nice car for sure

But even including cars outside the family car segment, there's not a lot in ICE that is as quick for the money. EVs definitely bring the bang for the buck.

There are $30,000 used Teslas that can beat any Corvette ever GM made. For example, a 2017 Tesla P100DL does 2.3 sec and sells around $30000 today.

However, ownership cost of such a car is one of the most expensive with high insurance rates, high deprecation and frequent /high cost repairs. It could end up being cheaper ownership cost to buy a $75,000 brand new 2024 corvette than a $30,000 used P100D Ludicrous.

In California, my best guess would be a Tesla.

Definitely not a MachE if he has a Vette, that whole Chevy vs Ford thing. Lol

If you get it repaired at a Tesla Service center for sure. In California we have a number of independent Tesla repair shops that are more than half the price of Tesla service centers. I have a friend who bought a 2014 Model S and had the battery either replaced or repaired for around $7500 with full warranty. They repaired some other stuff like issues with the motors as well. He now has a brand new car, all the issues with batteries and motors repaired
