so i've had 3 OTA updates i think, but hyundai just released a 'big' update to the nav/infotainment system which you will eventually get OTA or you can download to a flash drive and update yourself. of course i didn't wait for OTA and did it last night. it was about 40GB (!) so put it on a 64GB flash drive, plugged it in and turned the car on... it prompted to update, and off it went. not sure how long it took, i didn't wait, but guessing an hour or more.

anyway, loads of updates, some small, some bigger.

maps now a lot smarter about showing chargers available, how many specifically and what type (speed/power) at each charging location.
car will automatically close the windows when entering a tunnel if you set it that way (lol)
lots of other stuff...

the OTA updates are excellent. Everyone seems high centered about how well Tesla does them, but other EV manufacturers are doing pretty much as good a job IMO. I've had a ton on mine, and also am in the early access program so get to test some things in advance.

couple of other things... note on the bottom of the bumper area there are two rectangles... they're motorized shutters, i guess to manage air flow vs cooling.

also, i noticed an orange light on the top of the dash comes on for a while in the evening. apparently that's the ev battery trickle charging the old school 12v accessory battery.

Those shutters only open when the battery needs additional cooling. My 2020 Ioniq had those, they just didn't look as cool

whether hyundai, tesla, mercedes, etc., being a techie i knew i'd enjoy an ev.

the range is a bit less than i anticipated, but maybe that's because initially i was certainly driving it rather exuberantly.

now i'm experimenting with eco mode (+ i-pedal), and the miles per kwh are going up (3.5 now i think). so i guess with 77kwH battery x 3.5 that's ~270mi. not bad.

I think you're still in the range anxiety phase. I believe you'll get over that quickly and learn to adapt. Glad you're enjoying the EV ownership experience so far

nah, just experimenting. as i said, i drive 30-50mi. a day and not every day... hardly a big deal. even with only 200 mi. range that would be 4 days or more between needing to charge it.

1st stage is denial
you are still fixated on miles. experienced EV owners go by battery %

I was going to say that. Just look at SoC percentage. That's more important than "miles". You'll soon figure out how many miles you can go based on battery percent, which is accurate, while miles is an ever changing number

believe what you want. i look at % and miles - i'm simply learning the data and calculations. if i was concerned about range i'd be charging every day. i only did that the first and second day to see how the level 1 charging cable worked (useless). after that, charge every few days.
