Of course Google maps will navigate by voice to a location such as your home, what hes saying is it won't navigate to a PERSON. Apple Maps will use the address in a contact's info on your phone or their real time location to route you just by saying navigate to their name.
google maps:
1) if i TYPE in the contact name in the google maps search box it shows my contact name's address.
2) if i click the microphone icon and say the name, i get random businesses/places the may sort of match my contact's name... i think that's all about 'advertising' basically.
apple maps:
1) same
2) say the name, shows the contact
or siri:
"navigate to <contact name>"
apple maps comes up with right contact name/address selected.
So here’s a question. If you track people on find my friends I. IOS17 it always shows their location in their contact. As in, where they physically are at the time. I wonder if it would navigate to where they physically are…

You can, you can start the navigation right from the contact when they share their location.
You are both wrong. Well, not totally wrong. If you have an Android phone, it uses Google assistant. For example, "Navigate to (name) house". Google will pull up the name from your contacts, and if you added their address in contacts, it will pull up Google maps and start navigation. Just did it. "Hey Google, navigate to (brother's name) house".
The caveat is you have to have an Android phone. And if you haven't figured it out yet, Android rules
It sounds like the difference is in the command. Apple allows you to just state you want to navigate to the person, vs “their house”
You can actually just say "Navigate to (name), and that works as well. It also works like that in my Polestar, which when logged into my Google account has access to my contacts (you have to grant it permission)
Since my pixel sale didn't go through I'll have it back shortly and will test amirza's assertion 😁
Since it also had his old address (which I have not removed yet), it popped up an option to choose one of the addresses. Had I removed his old address, it would have just gone straight to Google Maps.
Google has been doing this stuff way longer than Apple. Apple has fancier looking maps, but Google is still the king of collecting data
Got the right breaker installed now so faster charging
Congrats! I only get max 9 kW as my charger is 40 amp. Also, max I can get out of my circuit is 230v. I would have to have PG&E change the lines to get 240v....not worth it as the 9 kW does the job
