Default ST's Cybertruck review

Lots of excitement around the Cybertruck, and luckily one of my friend got one and let me drive it around a bit:

TL;DR : a smooth, quick, and technological truck that is very capable for 95% of folks out there and make you feel like a Hollywood movie star.

Good: Smooth and surprisingly quiet, quick, and very agile ride with lots of heigh adjustment with the air suspension, usual great suite of Tesla infotainment, deceptively roomy inside and in the bed. EV mileage for my friend is equivalent to my X Plaid on 22" wheels!

Bad: still some quality issues to figure out, back seat headroom is going to be tough for tall passengers, no pass thru to cabin so limited way to camp inside (like other Teslas).

Ugly: the small quasi yoke seems a step backwards. The SS gets fingerprints very easily and sometimes the panels seem not to match. Introverts need not apply as this attracts more attention then any other car I have seen. Long haul towing is still a weakness for ALL EV trucks, unfortunately.

In a nutshell: v1.0 release of the Cybertruck is very good, but not great (especially with the foundation "markup"). It rides smooth and quietly with great agility (due to drive by wire), has the usual comprehensive set of Tesla infotainment options front and rear, and is quite roomy. The quirky stainless steel flat surface styling may not be for everyone, but is attracts an instant crowd. Looking forward to how they enhance it over the years as Tesla typically does.

Great review. I can already see I would hate that steering wheel, it would be a 100 percent probably be a dealbreaker for me. I think Tesla does stuff like that just to give the middle finger

I would be ok with it if it was sized appropriately (same as my S/X), but it's like 3/4 scale of it.

ST430, thanks for the review!

how is the steering compared to your model S or X or whatever you have this week?

Lol...the steer by wire combined with the rear wheel steering makes it super easy to maneuver around.

Nice to read a review from a member! I'm glad they are putting the screen in the back for the rear passengers. I've heard the steer by wire is really cool - did it seem like it takes any time to get used to it? Also, any comments on the ambient lighting inside - does it look good, not good, overdone, etc?

It was quick adaptation, and more getting used to how small the Yoke was and its scaling to the actual feedback (dont need to turn as much). THe ambient lighting was very subtle and not in any way distracting and almost invisible unless you change to specific colors (i found the same thing on the Model 3 highland as well).
