LexTess is in Alberta, Canada per their profile. $.79 CAD is ~$.59USD to it's not too far off of US non-member pricing.

Charging infrastructure in Alberta is crap I don't recommend an EV if you live here unless you can charge at home, and don't need to drive out in the sticks all the time.

I used to think that Canadians were "green", but I have to say, some of the most anti EV critics I've met are Canadian LoL. I mean at .79 CAD per kWh, how can I blame them? That's borderline criminal

In 2017 I was paying .05 per kWh, or about that. We had a *censored* that went with "green" energy before it was ready and now the grid is powered by expensive fuels. Also keep in mind Alberta is literally oil country the sentiment towards EVs is not exactly friendly. But even with that, there are Tesla's everywhere.

Also, Canada is not a monoblock we have provinces and regions. I know most Americans think Canada is the same across the entire country. Sorry, take that as dig or not but it's true. I used to get asked all the time, "what's the weather like in Canada"

really?

B.C. has a massive tree hugger crowd VERY different vibe.

Depending on how much you charge could be just as much as a tank of gas if not more. I pay $0.11/kwh at home to charge. And my last fuel refill was $31.91 for over 5xx miles DTE

I don't think that's likely, but each person would have to do the math on how frequently they're using a super charger at that cost. I've had my Tesla 14 months and I have only used a super charger twice in that time (both in the first 60 days of ownership). I plug in nightly and I've seen my home power bill is up about $80/month in the 14 months I've had the car. Comparing that to what I spent on gas in my LS460 (about $400/month) is quite a difference. But I don't care about the savings, I just love the EV driving and ownership experience at this point.

Even if it costs what it costs to fill a car up with gas, you only do it when you travel.

Still costs me $70-80 to fill mine up.

Yeah, I figured you would be somewhere in the $80-$100 range. Premium gas, somewhere around a 20 gallon tank at roughly $4 ish per gallon. Those were my LS numbers.

Yup, and mine is only because I fill up usually about 1/4 tank.

Have to make sure those per kWh numbers posted are apples to apples comparisons as there are retail rates and member rates, the latter generally being 25% or lower in return for a reasonable monthly fee. It will usually take one decent charge per month to offset the cost of the monthly fee.

Having said that the only thing that keeps rates even somewhat under control is competition. It's all well and good for the industry to broadly go all in on one vendor and leave the others to fade into oblivion, but it's in the consumer's best interests for others to be viable and to compete hard with Tesla. And remember this, if the Disney spat and related Disney+ removal is anything to go by, you are always at risk of someone somewhere upsetting Musk and suddenly your particular brand of vehicle is shut out of the network. Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for.
