Default 2/29/2024 - Tesla superchargers now open to Ford EVs.

Ford becomes the first to get access to Tesla superchargers. available as of today. Ford is making the NACS adapter free to customers. The site to order one is struggling, though….

Adapters only free until July. I wonder if they'll include them with new purchases or if users between July and native NACS port are going to have to pay for it

it look like it’s free until July for current owners, one free adapter per VIN, and a paid accessory afterwards ($230)

While this is excellent overall for the EV infrastructure and Tesla is going to increase the supercharger install locations to accommodate the increased demand, I'm still not looking forward (short term) to having to wait to charge while on a trip because of the potential congestion that this will cause.

Life goes on anyway..

Haha. So early reports from people who got adapters in advance are that it’s working flawlessly.

an OTA update is rolling out as we speak to update the navigation to include superchargers and to accommodate plug and charge at tesla locations.

There are not enough non-Tesla EVs for it to matter much. Not in North America. Plus I'm confident Tesla will build charging stations faster than the population of EVs will increase.

Yes with a membership, no without. Looks like 12.99 membership. Will be well worth it if you charge more than once or twice per month. EA pass plus in comparison is $7, EvGO are also 12.99.

About the only time I’d likely need this is traveling down to Southern California and back. And the big station at Harris Ranch always seems to have way more available capacity than Tesla drivers alone need. I’ve never seen it more than maybe 20% utilized, probably even less. There’s a lot of capacity out there, and a lot of new revenue for Tesla.
