In price but not in the nature and quality of the vehicle. Model 3 is a steal compared to a Prius Prime for the same money.

Stranger things have happened haha

I used to say about our Prius, it was a $14,000 car that cost $26,000 (that was when $26,000 was a lot more money)

I love my Prius, and based on Carmax' new analysis of car sales in 2023, I am not the only one...thus, the Prius is the car model with the highest loyalty among its customers:

All the awards and accolades are not translating into sales Toyota will be lucky to sell 40,000 Prius in 2024.

Sorry, I also owned a Prius and I am entitled to my opinion. There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s an economy car and they’re loud on the highway and just nothing that excites me. A Model 3 is a much better car, so is a Ev6 or an Ioniq 5 the list goes on. You’re the one who brought it into this discussion not me, comparing it to these cars is just absurd.

One thing that’s interesting. We had our Prius when they were really cool and the early adopters were all over them, there was quite the enthusiast following. What do all those people have now? Teslas.

asj, you're still all over the map between "greenest" vehicles" and best "fuel economy". for "economy" i.e., cost of driving, bev wins hands down.
i also just read that the cost difference of a prius prime vs a regulard hybrid prius will take a decade more to make back in fuel 'savings'.

From what I've seen, hybrids always carry a premium price when compare to the ICE version.

I see their point tho, around town you can get a fuel savings compared to ICE and they tend to run lighter than Bev's.

Overall pollution, that will be a hard to find a "winner" because of the complexity of it.

Not going to give up converting us to hybrids asj? I'll give you one thing... I admire your persistent. I'm about ready to dump all my BEV'S and buy a Prius just to stop you from moving all those goal posts. All that digging has to be bad for the environment 🤣

Look, if all you want is a driving appliance then that’s it. If you want to enjoy what you’re driving through there is just no question that modern EV is a much more enjoyable thing to drive. It’s an efficient car that’s refined like a luxury car, quick like a sports car and requires no gas all for a reasonable cost. Tons of great options now. Much more enjoyable to drive than even a new Prius, let alone a 10+ year old one.

Thats why this whole argument is so silly. People who buy EVs don’t buy them simply because they are efficient, which is why they don’t care that your old Prius gets 70 MPG
My Prius doesn’t scream at 80 or even 94-95 however fast I’ve had it up to. The loudest thing you will hear is wind noise which is exactly what you will hear in an EV at those speeds. I’ve never driven a 2nd gen Prius so I’m not sure but I drove a 3rd gen Prius as recently as yesterday. What didn’t you like about the new Prius?

And it struggled on steep inclines. The best thing I could say about it is it got really good gas mileage.

Again, different strokes for different folks, not a car I would buy or drive, but I don't judge anyone who drives them
My Prius is the least “enjoyable” to drive out of all of our vehicles. As a matter of fact it’s boring to drive but it serves its purpose. The Prius C I heard is a slug even compared to a 3rd gen Prius. I don’t even need the Prius but I can’t bring myself to get rid of it.

I actually chose my PHEV over the regular hybrid cause of it’s quicker and figured I would enjoy it more with its 302hp but I drive it solely in EV mode in which it’s 0-60 is 3 secs slower but I’m not red light racing which has been fine. It is smooth and relatively quiet in EV mode. That I won’t debate.

Anyone who says all Prius "scream" when driving fast obviously has not driven one

Never gone beyond 85 mph (we traveled between CO and FL just last summer), but it's perfectly fine at that speed . No loud noises, or even sqeaks or rattles (and I have 172k miles on mine). He was basically reaching for some stereotype, and managed to land in an inaccurate one

It's not just my "opinion" about it being the greenest vehicle. As to cost savings, given that Prius Prime is holding its value well and BEV new and used prices have collapsed, you might be right.... although the MPGe of the Prius Prime is pretty much the same or higher than many BEVs

Hmmm...just realized the two cars I currently own are in the top 4 cars in model loyalty according to Carmax (and I used to own a Rav4 as well)....guess that's why I'm reluctant to sell my old 3rd gen. Drive it until the end maybe. The wife seems to like driving it more than the new RX...probably because I keep telling her to be careful when driving the new %$^%$^% overpriced bucket of bolts
