Love these and watched this video last night! Sat in one at the NY Auto show a few weeks ago. Didnt realize it was targeting the track or performance driver so directly. Low on feature content, but heavy on making a fun and capable vehicle. Really want to drive one.

But seeing 20k markups making this an almost 90k vehicle is nutty. Cant believe this is still happening in this economy.

I can't remember ever seeing Sofyan just giggle incessantly like he does in the 5N review:

Simulating ICE engine noises and shifts is just silly to me. A stupid gimmick. If I want engine noises, if I want shift points, I'll buy an ICE vehicle. I want smooth instant torque that makes my stomach jump in my mouth and I want to feel that dizzy feeling in my head when I put the pedal to the floor, and I want to be able to beat Mustangs, Camaro's, BMW's, Chargers etc off the line and absolutely humiliate them. And I want a quiet ride when I'm just cruising. If I ever owned this car, I would turn all the gimmicky **** off

But that's the whole point. It does all that you're asking for and more, and the gimmicky stuff is off by default. But I've yet to see anyone who's driven it who doesn't just absolutely love the way they've implemented this stuff. If they missed even a little bit, it would be SO BAD. Like most annoying EV ever made bad. But clearly they didn't miss. And of course, if you don't want it anyway, you can choose to never turn it on.

i hear you there. But Cammissa and especially Farrah hate gimmicks like that. They have panned all that stuff in prior reviews. But, from what I gather from these early reviews, they have a change of heart here and are absolutely enjoying it because its done fairly correctly. The car targets those who want to take this to track events or just have fun on the twisty roads, and that group of drivers/buyers have been very vocal against EV's lack of sound (among other things). Dont think they are targeting someone who just wants another quiet yet fast EV, like pretty much all others. Thats not the point of the car here. They are trying to bring back something that is missing and satisfy that group of people. I would absolutely give it a shot and I think its pretty cool that they were able to replicate the sound and physical feel of giving an EV car gear shifts, banging off of redline, power drop off, etc.

If the driver still doesnt like it, then best part about it, they can turn it all off. Also, it sounds like the sound and gear shifts are deactivated in the power boost mode too.

Don't get me wrong, I love the sound and feel of an engine revving to the limit...but not in an EV . Just not for me, although I would try it just for the experience of seeing for myself

There are other "silly" features that are not simulations of ICE engines and transmissions that sound like tons of fun too. Like the ability to directly control torque distribution and allowable slip angle. The fact that it seemingly "knows" that if you quickly stab the throttle mid-corner, you want to initiate a drift, so it breaks the tail end loose for you and you can easily let it hang out for as long as you want.

well thats whats it is there for, i notice on track they put it mostly off, because why would you want your EV to be sluggish at 1000 simulated rpm.
