I knew after I commented in the other thread I would soon hear from you.
Fortunately for my PHEV, 60% of the battery is usable for EV mode, 30% (depleted) to fully charged 100% (in actuality 90%). So charging daily to 90% hopefully doesn’t cause too much long term wear on the battery. If so, guess I’ll just end up with a HV which I would be ok with so considering…
My 150k (it sat for 9 months in 2023) Prius is on its original brakes, 2nd or 3rd air filter (I need to change it) and idk 4th or 5th cabin filter and factory plugs (probably should change). I change the oil and every 10k miles and rotate the tires every 5k miles, run the gas tank down to almost half gallon left every tank (bye bye fuel pump🙄.
In the end, it’s ok it works for us. ‘23 Rav Prime has 20k miles. ‘23 Rav hybrid is 300 miles away from 25k miles. With all said, I would buy an EV and keep the hybrids. I’m a hoader. 😁 I’m hoping to buy my neighbor’s IS 250 to keep it out of town when I travel for work.

Forget the IS250, get an IS350. They almost have the same MPG, but the IS250 is just so underpowered. Smooth engine, just extremely underpowered

Ok, so y'all want to get a little tiny bit controversial, we can do that, lolol
Here we go...
Not an expert but here's where I'm at for Phev plus points.
1: Phevs cover local driving like the article says on just the battery, even at 80% charge Im guessing.
.2: Phevs owners will never have range anxiety. Maybe a big concern to people who live in rural areas.
3: never need to Super Charge so easier on the batteries?
That's all I have so far, making a list. Lol

In a zombie apocalypse it will take longer for the gasoline to go bad than it will for a battery to be drained. I suppose you could rig some type of solar charger but... if you have a diesel ICE, you can recycle zombies to make biodiesel.

In the walking dead, they used solar panels. You could also grind up zombies, make biodiesel to power chargers. Problem solved

"PHEVs represent the worse of two technologies"
Well said. Full/real EVs are superior and are clearly the future. I love my EVs and look forward to more. I love getting to drive the future today while so many people drive around in their ICE/PHEV dinosaurs.
Anyone who thinks ICE cars or PHEVs are the answer is living in denial, in the past, or in ignorance. /thread
