I wanted to refrain from complaining. But here's the summary:

Makes lots of jokes

Talks a lot about the Rivians comfortable suspension and efficiency (averages 2.7 miles per kW)

Makes more jokes

Uses several Tesla chargers and a GM charger with good results

Wants to move to another state that's not California

Can't believe how big Buc-ee's is

That about sums it up

2.7 is impressive! When I'm doing long highway stretches, I'm lucky to get 2.2

He hit up to 3 when he had a wind behind him, I remember seeing 2.7, but I was skipping through the video, so maybe 2.3, which still isn't bad for a big truck doing between 75 and 80 mph

I've seen a ton of Rivians the last two days on my trip to Santa Barbara. They seem to be very popular here

The efficiency monitor in the driver's display shows the last 15 minutes. I'd prefer since last charge, but they aren't listening to me

he'd hit 99 going off a cliff too, but not so relevant either.

Haha true 😀 I'll remember that next time I'm heading for a Cliff.

2.3 miles per kWh is still decent for a truck that size and heavy

My lifetime average is at 2.4 right now. Running 2.47 in the spring/summer and will drop off to ~2.2 in the winter. I reset my trip odometer with the time changes

I wish I could set cabin overheat in the Rivian to 100 like in the Tesla. I believe they have something that kicks in if the screen gets to a certain temp, but not the cabin temp. The AC is already a weak spot on the car and preconditioning from 130 down to 68 takes an extra 2-4 minutes longer than going 100 to 68

Q2 Results
  • EPS: loss of $1.13 per share vs expected $1.21
  • Revenue: $1.16B vs 1.14B expected
  • Net losses: up to $1.46B from $1.2B in 2Q23
    • This one isn't entirely unexpected since they had the shutdown and retooling of the Normal plant
  • 2024 guidance of 57,000 total units produced, $2.7B loss in adjusted EBITDA, and $1.2B in CapEx. Maintaining gross profit expectation in Q4
  • 9,612 vehicles product (down due to April retooling)
  • 13,790 vehicles delivered
  • $32,705 loss per vehicle vs. $38,784 in Q1 (up from $30,500 loss in 3Q23)
    • Most sales were Gen 1 models so they do not include the ~20% cost reduction in the Gen 2s
