Throw more displacement, burn more gas, yeah and we're back in the 1960's and 70's where I could see the air I was breathing when I was growing up in Los Angeles. No matter how much you try to fool yourself, to achieve more power with ice means cramming more gas and air into the cylinders, less MPG's and more pollution. Name me one high performance ICE vehicle 500 to 1000 hp that gets over 30 mpg. If you can, I'll swear off EV'S forever.

BTW I was joking in my previous post, I fully understand the complexities in EV'S
My Audi A8. 550 HP 32 average, 3.2 second 0-6 and I'll be dropping into the twos next year.

Or any S8 would also qualify, or any 2.0T car that's stage two or higher. Add in a light hybrid system and you can see 40 mpg and if you demand power even a 2.0 engine can give 500-600 easily with modern setups without much issues and we already have cars in the 400+ range with 4cyl with factory warranties. ICE cars keep advancing in MPG and WILL pass EVs before too long since VW already proved 250+ is possible. All that needs to happen is gas cars to hit about 75-85 mpg and EVs will die since they only get around 100. We are at 50 now up from 20-30 only 10 years ago.

A 25k ICE will be able to beat a 45k EV for most of the country who think a small V6 or turbo 4 is "amazing power". Most really don't care and it's just a way to move from point A to B as cheap as possible

I gave you over 10. I literally own one and I'm speaking from experience. Not surprising you are from LA, you guys would be better served than anyone by going nuclear fuel cell for the best possible environmental impact but instead you import power from Mexico and batteries from slave labor and massively environmentally destructive practices in China.

If people kept their BEVs for 10-15 years sure it would possibly be better provided we can handle the load and crazy amount of batteries that would require for 90+% of the us fleet. At the current 3 year cycle it's insane and I don't think mining and refinement even without rules like how it's done currently overseas will keep up.

I had a 2018 Civic Si with an Earth dreams efficient 1.5L with 205 HP that claimed 40 mpg. In reality it averaged 27 mpg and only 38 mpg when I feathered it on a flat highway. The average Tesla model 3 with the performance pack averages near 112 MPGe. So sorry, I'm calling BS on those numbers you provided

easy to forget the lucid air they tested and gushed over is $170K U.S. !!! that's a load of money for a car from a company with no track record.

Oh, I 100 percent agree with you there. Until it actually gets released and tested in the real world everything is only based on information we get from them. Also the model they tested is way overpriced

We've reached almost max efficiency with combustion. The gains in the last decade are tiny and even if you develop for the next 20 years, you're not going to get near the efficiency of an electric motor. Unlike ICE, EVs with high horsepower have no impact on range. Mutually exclusive factors. Sorry but you get near 1000hp on an ICe and the maintenance is fat headache. Look at the Veyron'a maintenance schedule. Same with the Porsches and Ferraris. A Plaid maintenance is like that if a Corolla. EVs with insane horsepower will only get cheaper too with reliability to boot.

The numbers are there if people want to look them up. Even if you could get 30 mpg from a 500 hp ICE engine, that's so inefficient compared to a 500 hp EV motor, which gets above 100. Also the cost to drive an EV is not even half the cost. 400 miles is around $12 while the most efficient ICE is at least $50.

If people don't want EV'S, that's cool with me, that's what choice is. But trying to disregard the potential EV'S have over ICE seems like an odd way of saying you don't want one

ok, this is about the lucid, not ICE maintenance.

Fair enough. I'm glad I cancelled my preorder because it doesn't look like they are going to make any of their targets. 2023 is probably the best scenario for those that pre-ordered. That info comes from a friend who works at Lucid

Go to the Audi forums. It's stupid easy to confirm this. An SI doesn't have even half the stuff my A8 does to boost mpg such as cylinder deactivation, hybrid system, or variable oil systems.

If I'm driving hard it's around 23 but staying within speed limits and under 2k rpm it's what I said it is.

My car was 35k all in. Please direct me to an EV that is the same price, features, performance, and doesn't have a $8-12k battery pack that I can also modify to at least 50% increased power without altering.

I'll wait. 40k gets me a whole hell of a lot of gas and engines are CHEAP vs packs of cells.

I just bought a PoleStar 2, under $50k, AWD, 408 WHP 497 ft lbs torque, 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and gets 96 mpg combined. I'm not in any type of competition with you, but it will beat most unmodified ICE vehicles in that price range. Adoption of EV'S is only around 9 percent, they will get cheaper as more people buy them and there is more competition. All you need to know is some basic engineering and it's very obvious that EV even in it's infancy has way more potential than ICE, which like the dino juice it runs on, will end up like it's fuel. Extinct.

Admin has already warned me not to discuss anything outside of the topic so I'll end it there

It sounds unlikely that 550hp (as stated in an earlier post) could deliver a 3.2 second 0 to 60 time in a close to 5000lb tuned A8L?

Not that 550hp isn't a lot, but it's having to deal with quite a lot of weight.

According to this, 5.6 seconds: https://www.carindigo.com/audi/a8-l/0to60

My 2010 NA IS350 Sport did it in 5 seconds flat (see the link in my signature)

Well I think that striker223's car is tuned, but the tuners themselves (assume APR) aren't claiming 3.2 seconds. The only thing even remotely close requires 100 octane fuel, which even outside of CA isn't cheap.

Tuning is another rabbit hole I've dug myself in the past. It can run deep... and drain your pocket
