Couldn't quite break the 10 second quarter. Go to 18:00 if you only want to see the times

It's impressive for a dual motor design vs the Plaid tri motor but the advertised hp seems weaker than the Tesla design. Probably related to area under the curve on power. Anything over 10s flat is slow.

OMG, LOL do you hear yourself? Just read back what you wrote...I think for most people anything under 12 seconds is pretty fast

That's why he had a big smile there at the end as he knew how others would react. 🙂

I think anything under 10s is ridiculously fast. Anything under 11s is the new fast for sports cars (911 turbos, Taycans, etc...). I think over 11s isn't all that fast anymore compared to whats been coming out.

I agree on the looks but then again it’s hard to compare these cars. To me one is similar to a Panamera and the other is similar to a S-class. One is a sports sedan and the other is a luxury sedan which to me are just too different. I do really like the looks of the Plaid at most angles but there are a couple angles that don’t look that great, it’s kind of strange.

Plaid: 4,760 lbs power/weight 4.67
Lucid: 5,250 lbs power/weight 4.72

Differs depending on the source but yea looks like about 500 pounds more. That's why I think Lucid is fibbing about the battery pack size it's more than they are saying. Especially since Lucid has said they put extensive effort into making the electric motors as light as possible and weight savings in general.

The difference was very large in speed though. 9.3s vs 10s is a humongous difference in the quarter mile. I don't 500 lbs would make that much of a difference.

True that they are different, one is a sports sedan while the other is a luxury sedan you are right . But if a person looks at a Lucid and then a Tesla, if the emotional appeal hits them at the Tesla dealer then it is a sale for Tesla and that is the sex appeal part. I do see what you mean that they are hard to compare, but $$$ wise they match..don't you think? I can't wait to see the EQS in person.

Like what? I do think the interior design of the Tesla is more interesting IMO as well as its less traditional and more forward thinking. I always liked the pre-refresh interior interior of the S.

in the video he's going 143mph at the end of a quarter mile, which is reckless on any public road, so it's all irrelevant except for drag strip bragging.

the lucid is technically impressive especially its packaging (huge back seat room and storage front and back), and the build quality and materials appears to be (thankfully) not in the same universe as a tesla s, but i still the car is just a bit odd.

it does a lot of things well but doesn't have anything to me that says 'wow' except maybe for space efficiency. and for a crapload of money, i want 'wow'.

a general rule used by people in the drag scene is 100 pounds of weight loss = .1 seconds off in 1/4 mile. So that 500 pound difference would put the Lucid at 9.5-9.6. Not far off. When you add in that the plaid has to do pre conditioning, it makes sense.

It’s taken Tesla the best part of ten years to be able to deliver Plaid performance. This is Lucid’s first car. And it’s perfectly possible that current Lucid performance will be enhanced via over the air updates as their engineers get to grips with their hardware and software potential. The Lucid is already more than fast enough, and it’s only a software upgrade away from a further uplift. We’re no longer in a world where your car is as fast as the day it was delivered.
