In Q1 of this year Porsche sold 2,008 Taycan's in the US which was 11.5% of worldwide Taycan sales. For a car at this price point the volume seems pretty good for three months. As far as its % of worldwide sales I don't really know how this compares to the brand overall.

In CA they're probably selling very well lots of wealthy tech workers thrive here. I'm not really in the market for $100k car just saying it's selling well more than you would think. It's actually selling more than Panamera.

Porsche Reports Q1 2021 U.S. Retail Sales
Unfortunately these sales are bogus and dealers are forced to take on huge inventory of these cars.

There is no availability for Panamera, 911, Cayman/Boxster.
Search on cars.com or better yet contact Porsche dealers directly.

Its as though Porsche can no longer build these cars - not sure if its the EU regulations or what.

The area where I live $100k cars are nothing special so that’s not the reason sales have cooled on the Taycan. When its the only inventory you have plus offering $789 lease specials then yeah they will move some units.....

It does. All the inventory you see at the dealer were produced before ship shortages or that they had parts already in inventory. If you do a custom order of Taycan now very likely you won’t get one until end of yr.

Tesla superiority in this regard is unmatched and im sure is proprietary to them.
I'm beginning to be less impressed. What tesla does is CLAIM superiority with exaggerated ranges that people can't get in the real world whereas other makers seem to underestimate what you can get plus have bigger reserve capacities.

Another exaggeration? A model S performance claims to have 778hp yet a Taycan with only 687hp (90hp less!) and etron-gt (646hp, 130hp less!) are about the same weight yet faster or darn near identical. Maybe it's the 2 gear gearbox the porsche has.

It didn’t take Porsche very long to catch up and exceed Tesla S. Plus, the brand superiority of Porsche will allow them to charge more as well. The same will be with the EQS…then the Audi GT, then along comes Cadillac and then Lexus. ..Then EV bubble burst ICE cars and hybrids will still dominate sales figures for a long long time

Porsche underrated their motor and the 2 speed gearbox helps. But they are comparing a significantly cheaper Model S that isn't even made anymore. Let's revisit this when the plaid Model is released in June (still significantly cheaper) and see how the high speed motors do against Taycan. No excuses for anyone at that point.

For giggles I priced the most expensive Taycan and Model S currently available
Model S: $96,490
Taycan Turbo S: $160,470

Did you custom built Taycan because it can be had for over $240k with a lot more options. Even some 4S are listed at $150k. Turbo S for $160,470 is cheap.

I did a custom build must have done something wrong didn't see a way to get it up that high. Either way a car that is $64,000+ more damn well should have superior performance especially since Porsche is a high performance car company with 90 years of experience.

With Porsche you can add $ tens of thousands of interior and cosmetic mods that have nothing to do with performance. Tesla should capitalize on that, they have a very loyal and wealthy following who would be happy to pay for customizations.

Porsche is a luxury brand. Tesla is premium tech so not really comparable. The Model S is oooold. They discontinued it until the new version is released in June. Let's see how the Taycan fares against the new Model S. No excuses if Model S loses and vice versa.
