Who wants crash test videos?

R1T IIHS Top Safety Pick+. Only 'acceptable' rating was from the rear passenger during the side test. Airbag didn't deploy far enough back so the rebound caused the dummy to hit its head on the pillar. Everything else was green.

Making my way out to the Brooklyn service center this weekend for the First Mile drive (test drive). Weather is going to be horrible and you have to ride with a Rivian guide, but rumor has it that if you don't need financing and are flexible with your configuration, you can get added to a lead list and hop the line if an unmatched truck is available.

I thought you had one on order already. Let us know how it drives, which I'm sure is really good 😊

I do have one ordered, but my ETA is ~Q4 of this year. If you get on the lead list they grant early access to the R1 shop and you can pick from orphaned trucks that someone wasn't ready to take delivery on. I'm trying to get one sooner than later

First Mile drive got delayed. We're getting a decent amount of rain right now and the service center had a roof leak. Good thing the trucks are rated for fording 40ish inches

There are some first mile drives happening in the DC area, but I haven't gotten an invite to mine. April update in the email still on time from the last update which was May/June, but my profile on the site says Processing Estimate.

My guide gave me access to the R1 Shop just for fun, there's a White on Black R1S in there. I want my Blue on Ocean Coast though.

I'd take shop access over the first drive My FG/FE is still scheduled for Q4. Updates should've come out on Friday, did they leave you on processing? Wonder if that's related to shop access

So I did get the email on Friday, saying that I'm still on track from my last update. But my profile, even today, still says Processing Estimate. I don't think shop access should have an impact there, But who knows.

I hope you are planning to lease this thing. You will not be able to recoup even 50% of its value on used market.
Rivian may not make it another 18months depending how bad economy gets.
Stock price can’t get any lower at this point.

Please show me a $45-50k R1T (50% of MSRP). I will buy it now, guaranteed.

It reminds me of when my mom used to splurge on the nicer leather options on her cars then promptly put seat covers on 'to protect the resale.' Anyone who'd buy a car based on expected deprecation would also have to stay away from any high end German make as well because those drop ~50% in 5 years too

I just keep on waiting for this terrible economy I've been promised was right around the corner for the last 4 years lol

Again you may be unaffected but many people are feeling effects of inflation, rising debt, larger interest payments etc.
This has caused a slowdown on overall growth.
Market is still shaky.
We had a 3rd major bank collapse this week.
Not sure what world you are living in but people are definitely feeling economic effects in all income ranges.

When Porsche ADMs on GT3s are falling then you know things are not well lol

BTW Rivian stock is only down about 30% this year. They will need to raise money sooner or later and there is not much availability in capital markets. They don’t have Elon Musk type owner who will support the company with personal funds.
