true but if my math is right the difference between 15000 mi @ 15mpg @ $3.50 a gallon which is 23c/mi. vs my EV cost even without solar at 4c/mi. is $2900.

Yes I agree, but we were talking about the poster changing one ICE truck for another ICE truck because of gas savings alone. The point was that's rarely if ever going to make sense, particularly with a truck.

But if a company has a fleet of cars doing high mileage sales calls I can see a Tesla or Mache or something.

I was running 700 miles a week on my last job doing electrical sales calls to the factories across a large area

Before I went to college back in the day I owned a tow truck and my fuel bill was approx $1k a month, back then.

Getting 50% better gas mileage made the truck payment on a much nicer and newer and should I say less repair cost older truck.

This used to be my daily 1 way commute to work in my 3rd gen Prius. Around 1,000 miles per week. Cost me around $40/week in gas. I put over 50k miles on it that year. Just have to have the right car for the job.

so 97.1mi at 55.1mpg = 1.76 gallons. you paid $3.73 for 1.76 gallons? must have been some time ago?
today at $3.50 a gallon more like would be ~$6 for gas or 11c a mile.

yup - my EV is 4c/mi.

moreover, why do you KEEP bringing up *GAS* consumption in the *EV* forum, and in a thread about a Tesla Model S no less?

2019

Had 2 flats during that time. Had to throw on the spare in middle of the night. What would’ve been your cost per flat at 3am?

Why didn’t you question the person I quoted the same thing? 🧐

fair point but you are obviously happy to talk hybrids and gas use in every thread in this forum.

anyway, ALL, can we keep this thread about Tesla Model S which is what it's about?

Someone was simply making a general comparison about switching between gas & electric and as usual you made it about YOUR EV whenever someone THINKS about gas. See below.

I was responding to Margate but of course now you want to keep it about the Model S after you chipped in your 2c about YOUR non Model S EV.

Okay…💁‍♂️
