it's got to have other makers very nervous. there comes a point where more and more people will say "even though i'm not that jazzed about a tesla, it's $XXk cheaper than anything else with little maintenance and no gas costs... i'm going for it."

whenever the model y came out, clearly it had 'startup' issues and probably accumulated a ton of recalls in those early years. not very relevant now.
