Nothing to get excited about. Even old school Toyota hybrid batteries last over 200k miles with minimal degradation.
Got any data on this? Or are you guessing. Hybrid battery failure in a Toyota is not uncommon and a royal pain to repair
It’s the age of batteries that’s the killer, and Tesla have not released data on that. I predict it’s going to be about the 10 year mark. So expect the first Model S to start having problems.

There's already data on Model S reaching 150K and retaining 90 percent battery...on the older battery tech
Old battery packs are starting to find a home in other applications like grid storage and EV conversions. Even if the battery is only at say 70% original capacity that's still more than enough energy to make it usable.
Yup. Power density is extremely important in cars, where every extra pound means more capacity is needed to push it around, which in turn weighs more, in a vicious cycle.
For a home backup? The ground doesn't care how heavy your battery is (within reason), and space is not at as much of a premium either.
Not my responsibility to. There are two parts to battery longevity. Cycling and calendar ageing. For you to say age is not a factor is a gross misunderstanding of battery chemistry.

Cycling is the biggest factor, but yes, age is one. Lithium Ion batteries last about 15 to 16 years due to battery management and proper cooling, which would give us over 200,000 miles. In 15 years I will either be dead or in another car
It can't come soon enough. I can't wait to get my hands on one!😁
I'm sure it's going to be an awesome, amazing truck, but I just can't get over the dystopian post nuclear war looks. It looks like something that belongs in a Mad Max movie .
The good news is that it should start coming out this year, but with a million preorders, I hope you ordered early....
