Tesla business discussion

Here's the point: EVs need to charge and Tesla owns the gas stations. That's cornering the market. Tesla stock jumped and investment in CCS companies tanked.
Rivian, Lucid and other EV companies are likely to follow suit. They have to charge.
GM and Ford knew their sales would struggle if they were dependent on the unreliable and small footprint non-Tesla chargers. CEO Barra claimed a $400M saving.
They had no choice and caved to Tesla. The Tesla Supercharger Network is a cash cow; every time a GM/Ford EV charges there, the $$ rolls in.

It's usage case is very limited, so it's not really that big of a deal in the bigger picture. The big news is that NACS will be the North American charging connector standard, already two big automakers and charging networks are adoption it, it's just a matter of time before the Germans cave in. This also shows that Ford and GM, seeing the rise of Tesla are actually taking BEV'S seriously.
Elon's a super smart guy, but he's still a fallible human being who is nowhere near perfect in my eyes. But when it comes to business, I'll never bet against him. Thankfully so, as had I followed all the "smart institutional investors", I would have made some money, but would have lost out on gains I could have had

Right, but FSD is a technology that is part of the Tesla business (the title of this thread) strategy as Musk's plans are to leverage FSD into autonomous taxis and a profit sharing opportunity like the Apple app store. I think it's a relevant thing to be discussed in a Tesla business discussion thread, just like discussing the expansion of other EV's using Tesla chargers because it drives additional Tesla revenue.

All I can do is offer an apology to those whom Tesla's success is causing heartburn to. Not sure why listing it's recent successes should cause negativity as Tesla earned it the hard way, almost going bankrupt.
This threads purpose is to talk about both Tesla's successes, as well as failures (very few failures so far), which I'll happily do. Thing that is funny to me (and sad at the same time) is hostility towards Tesla is actually very mild in CL (which is much appreciated), where it's turned up to 10 in the Polestar forum. I would never have suspected that EV owners would have such visceral hate for another EV company, but every Tesla success dials the hostility up. The NACS adoption announcement from GM seems to be the tipping point. You would think EV owners getting access to additional chargers would be welcomed, but I guess not if it bares the name "Tesla"

They will also charge at a Tesla station, give them time. Some of them will even buy a Tesla people grow up, not all of course.

Just a quick caveat on this. In order to qualify for the mentioned tax credits, you have to be below a certain income threshold. If you are above the threshold, you don't get the California rebate nor the Federal Tax write off

Who Says EVs Are Expensive? New Tesla Model 3 Costs $25k In CA, Cheaper Than Toyota’s Camry
State and federal tax credits potentially bring the price of a Model 3 down from $40,240 to $25,240 in Californiahttps://www.carscoops.com/2023/06/wh...toyotas-camry/
