Shocking price cuts - but I wonder if what's behind it is the rumored manufacturing and stamping improvements that are going to make their production costs less - I find it hard to believe they are going to take these price reductions directly off their profit margin per vehicle.
Some posters are in tears on the Tesla forum - getting new quotes on their resale values, which have now tanked.
Its good to see someone cutting prices - the US middle/working class has basically been shutout from the new car market now with what has happened to prices these last couple of years, combined with dealer ADMs, all the way down to Kia. Kia is the new Ferrari.
nothing new on this end, you just see what you want to see. i've been pro ev's from day 1 while acknowledging what i consider issues or bad behavior by tesla such as calling a feature 'full self driving' when it isn't.
wow huge price drops...
and just yesterday i posted...
i just went to look at mach-e inventory at my local ford dealer... they have 12!
Yep, I agree. I'm sure the others will follow, IF they even have the margins to do so. Tesla is so lean, they probably still have a good amount of profit built in with the price drop ( though the stock gapped down pre-market which I expected to happen).
Don't have updated numbers last I read the Model 3 costs Tesla $36,000 to make probably lower now that gives them a long runway to cut prices. Elon said recently growth is priority #1 as long as it doesn't harm the company financially long term.
Well, there's the rub . I'm not ready to buy right now, I'm waiting till it's much closer to my Ioniq's lease ending. If I see that prices are going up, I may just execute early
I still say there will be a Model2, a Corolla sized sedan & CUV. $30K price point.
Don't hold your breath on a lower price Model 2. It may happen, but the way Tesla executes it would be awhile before such a model would actually emerge
Even if Tesla had a $25,000 car ready to go selling it would make little sense they are going to use limited production capacity for much higher priced models.
I read that the recent Tesla buyers are upset in China over these price drops.
A lot of Tesla buyers are upset. My brother in law just bought in November, he told me he would have bought an M3P instead of the RWD had it been priced post price drop. Anyway, he needed a car badly
They are upset in the US too, check the Tesla blogs this morning. If Tesla had dealerships, they might be gathering there now! Maybe a few of them will chain themselves to a supercharger in protest!
And just like that, Tesla drops prices. Not seeing how anyone can think Tesla is going to slow. More production and cheaper prices demand is still high.
They just killed rest of the EV market and are going to be taking numbers on luxury market as well.
Keep in mind, this is still not going back to early 2021 pricing for the same models.
2021 Model S LR facelift was priced at $80k and now it is $95k, still a $15k higher price than before for exactly the same model.
