amazing result. Roughly 510,000 produced, and just about 500,000 delivered. Keep in mind that these are not yet final numbers. Final numbers will most likely show Tesla exceeded their goal.

Also, I wouldn't want a Christmas car...think of quality issues with increased line speed
Yup, not too shabby for a pandemic year! Very positive results.

A better adjective would probably be half-produced. Some of their assembly has to be completed at the dealership and/or warranty-work because it wasn't done (or done properly) at the factory.

Well that’s certainly a possibility. But I’d wager most of the buyers, and there are clearly a lot of them, are very much aware that they are rolling the build quality dice to one extent or another yet press ahead anyway.

I don't think it matters on their first purchase....future Tesla purchases maybe in jeopardy if the quality is bad

It's hit and miss as plenty of people had great quality cars too. But you never hear about them as people only go to the web or YouTube to complain. At least the service stations make it right after you take delivery and let them know about any issues. After those issues are resolved, it's far more convenient to own for a daily as you really have no maintenance requirements. Only warranty issues will be serviced by Tesla. All other things like tires will probably done somewhere else.

We’ve seen a few Tesla videos created by John Cadogan over the last few days. Most of us here, I suspect, likely had little idea about this particular commentator and his perspectives.

Well it turns out that Mr. Cadogan’s primary business is as a car broker. It turns out he’s been on something of an anti-Tesla crusade for quite some time. And more to the point, he won’t be able to sell you a Tesla.

Now this doesn’t necessarily invalidate his opinion on Tesla or Elon Musk, but as always you do have to consider the motivations of the source when considering the validity of an opinion.

I don't think anyone here actually considers him an "expert". Just some dude with an opinion like everyone else. He has made a bet on the future so we all will see how this plays out

He made so many factual errors I don't even know where to start. For one he thinks all batteries are exactly the same, completely oblivious to the chemistry, packaging etc. the guy has no clue.

I wouldn’t call it a massive victory. It’s is important....still didn’t hit 500K delivered. Hopefully the profit is better when revealed.

Car brokers are usually pretty intelligent people. So, if we actually do "consider the source" (as you put it)......then that validates his opinion even more.

It's a MASSIVE VICTORY. he made that promise 5 years ago and all he said was about half million in 5 years. He was 500 off...he basically met the goal. Also, official figures are typically higher than the initial estimate given at the beginning so he has a shot of actually hitting it.

Doesn't matter. Read the analyst sentiment and you'll realize that he is CRUSHING IT. Stock near an all time high because of these sentiments.

I just don’t agree that it is massive. Wouldn’t even call it a VICTORY. There were price cuts and freebie giveaways.

call it a positive... yes. I would call it that. Let’s see where the profits are...should be announced soon

No. It confirms the exact opposite. He's been trashing something he can't/doesn't sell, while promoting something he can.

The number is likely to go up, Jill. Chances are there's another 51 or more deliveries to be found. Today's Tesla release included the following qualifier:

"Our delivery count should be viewed as slightly conservative, as we only count a car as delivered if it is transferred to the customer and all paperwork is correct. Final numbers could vary by up to 0.5% or more."

(Bolding mine)
