I guess that brings my back to my original question - where does this thing fit in...? haha For the money, I'm buying the Taycan and I'm sure I won't be the only one who feels that way.
I guess Audi is trying to make it their halo car and recreate the badge-engineered success of the R8 (essentially a Lamborghini Gallardo in Audi clothes) in order to draw in a newer, younger audience- just like the R8 did 15 years ago. It worked wonders for the brand image back then, but now the affluent young audience has moved on to Tesla for brand image, and Audi wants a bite of that pie.
At best they'll recreate the success of the R8. At worst, it'll be Audi's Phaeton. Though I suspect that the supply will be greatly constrained due to lack of batteries just like every other EV out there currently, and so they'll sell every one they make.
