Saw one in a dark gray in a parking lot earlier today and I liked it!

Saw a red Mach E on the road today looks nice except the front end kinda ruins the look. Still overall a slick looking SUV.

This is one of the cars on my short list when my wife's Hyundai Ioniq EV finishes it's lease in 2 years and 7 months. By then they should hopefully be nearer to a 400 mile range. I like Tesla, but they are just to much like Apple (minus the quality!)...take it or F off. Plus when that giant screen goes bad, nothing works. One of my coworkers was $3500 out of pocket for his Model S when the screen failed, leaving the AC running 24 by 7 until he replaced it

Did your coworker not get reimbursed? That was one of the symptoms with the bad eMMC cards.

The answer is nope. Luckily he's a bit more than a co-worker (CEO of one of our medical device startups) so $3500 for him was pocket change. I think he was just out of the warranty period. My brother-in law also has a model S that he's leasing, the screen failed on his as well but his was under warranty

It's not a warranty item. It's a recall so people that had that failure can get reimbursed

OK, that was early last year when it happened. He probably doesn't care by now, but I will let him know

The bad screen issue is early Model S specific. It had too small a flash storage medium so when the flash goes bad, the screen stops working. They've since gone to their own IC and a completely different system so the other cars don't experience screen failures.

That's good to know because that screen basically controls everything. It all started when I heard a weird noise coming from his car and saw water dripping underneath. I went to his office to tell him something seemed wrong, and he smiled at me and said that was the AC running and he couldn't turn it off. His car was maintaining a constant 65 degrees F LOL!

You should definitely test drive the Mach E...I plan to someday. The only issue with it is the charging network (EA) is a hot mess right now. I think it will take a year or two to get it working smoothly across all OEMs.

I'm going to definitely test drive one. Those issues will be worked out by the time I'm ready to seriously consider one. Tesla has had a head start on charging infrastructure, they also have advantage with batteries, as they manufacture their own

not sure i follow about running AC 24x7, what does that have to do with the screen? is it because without the screen he couldn't turn the AC off!?

Exactly. When I said the screen controls everything, I meant the screen controls everything. No physical buttons in a Tesla, you leave something on like the AC or heater or even the window and screen dies, lets hope its not raining that day

Tesla has updated the software a couple of months ago so that all safety related items will still operate when the screen dies (assuming it's not been replaced under warranty already). The HVAC being one of them.

I'm glad they fixed that. In his case he couldn't turn it off until the screen was replaced
