How many days will it require to charge this thing?
I read recently that half EV owners traded in their cars back for ICE due to the charging inconvenience.
No....not even close. It was 20% and most of those owners didn't have a garage and owned Fiat 500s and were disproportionately female. Read the details of the report and you'll see that high range EVs had extremely high satisfaction and retention.

It wasn't half, there was an article that pointed at 18-20% of EV/PHEV owners go back to gas. And yes, those people largely didn't have home access for charging, which is still a big pre-requisite for making the leap without having to re-think or re-shape your interaction with your car for most day to day usage.
It would take "days" to charge if you're ever completely depleted and using a standard 110V outlet, but for most people that would be a pretty fringe use case/application.
According to this study, which looked at California EV owners specifically between 2015-2019, 18% of electric vehicle owners switched back to a gas-powered car. ... The research found owners were 53% less likely to buy another EV if they did not have access to convenient, at-home charging.
i always wondered what folks that live in apartments do if they have an EV...long extension cord to a 110V socket? now i know the answer; return it for an ICE !
back to the topic: lightning, very appropriate name for an EV but it better be a performance model like the old one!

Only 18% actually did trade in their cars. I think most people that buy EVs have an at-home solution or they wouldn't consider it.

Yep, the study basically highlighted some owners had buyers remorse having bought the wrong EV and/or not having access to something more than 110v charging...
Charging any EV with 110v is like trying to fill your ICE car with gasoline, but using a straw...

As my wife and I are currently renting, I'd say we'd probably have to shell out some extra cash for a garage space (which does have a standard 110 outlet). The rent for those suckers ($150 per space!) kinda cancels out the fuel savings of not having to go to a gas station.

I'd only get an EV right now if I had a dedicated space to charge the car on a L2 charger. 99% of my driving is local so the off change I do a roadtrip will require some planning around Superchargers but most of the time will be spent in the garage charging. I figure this will change in the next 5 years with the availability of public chargers getting better.
