Love the enormous frunk. Glad to see Ford is going all in and already has their second bonafide EV! Starts at $40K but what caught my attention is the Lightning can be optioned up to $90K! And people call Teslas expensive.

I also really like the ability to use the truck as a backup power source. I haven’t watched the video yet. Does it mention payload capacity?

Teslas can reach nearly $130K

Payload is between 2,000 and 1,800 pounds, lower payload is with the larger extended-range battery pack.

Max Towing targets are 7,700 with standard battery and 10,000 lbs with the larger battery.

But it’s a $90K truck, not one of the fastest cars on earth for $130K. I know traditional trucks were already cresting $70K so I’m just more shocked at how much higher a truck can cost.

Cybertruck and Rivian are both expected to deliver more range at a lower cost. That said, Ford does know how to make a good truck, and has way more experience with truck buyers, so it will be an interesting battle. Now I’m curious what Chevy and RAM will announce to stay competitive.

Ford has been on fire with new products lately and although I’m not a fan of these EVs - i have to admit that the new Bronco, Mach E and now this EV F150 are all very impressive in terms of design and performance.

I think they need to solve the charging network to have any continued success.

Looking forward to what they do with the new Mustang coupe.

I was at my GM dealership this morning. They said an electric Silverado is ultimately on the way, but don't have details yet. From what they tell me, the Silverado is now the top-selling vehicle at that dealership (and arguably GM's top seller)...GM is not about to neglect it.

You know it's an EV and will waste time at a charging station right? . "Americans have no patience for charging stops" - your words. 😁

Don't forget the inevitable grid collapse, terrible winter range, massive environmental footprint to mine battery materials. Impossible to recycle. Battery fires. What did I leave out.

i question this "3 day" powering a home figure. They said the average home uses 30kWh a day? How can they use so little. I dont use much in my house almost all my lights are LED/CFL, I run a couple ceiling fans constant, and in the winter im still using about 600 kwh a week, almost triple this average at my lowest power consumption? I mainly have a computer running, fridge and a chest freezer. No ones powering a home for 3 days maybe a bare bones studio apartment. Im not banking on this lasting 3 days.

I just checked my last bill and I averaged 22 kWh a day, so it would be reasonable for me. I have a 2400 square foot home. In December I was at 28 kWh a day.

I see it towing an airstream. I wonder what the range is when towing

probably 100-150 miles with towing, even worse if you have to go uphill. If you want to tow but have this home powering stuff, get the powerboost hybrid instead
