You are talking about one thing that has nothing to do with the other. Right now we are talking about greedy dealerships trying to prevent people from flipping their Lightning trucks that they bought with their own money because they are are being cut out of the deal

The way it works is you want to buy a car from the dealer that's hard to get. The dealer says "i'll sell you this car, but only if you sign this agreement not to resell it within 5 years. Take it or leave it."

You can sign that agreement or that car isn't for sale.

IIRC they did this with the Ford GT.

Sign the agreement then give the truck away the box of jelly beans that comes with the truck costs $150,000.

LOL. Love it!

I don’t understand how this rule is enforceable, even with a contract. Just seems like it would bring a lot of costly bad PR. Just let the market play out. Once there’s enough supply then there won’t be concerns about flippers.

Do you have to check in with your parole officer at the dealer to make sure you're not doing anything wrong with the vehicle you paid for? Gotta love dealerships they'll abuse their customers with market adjustments but if those same customers try and make money doing basically the same thing dealer will go after you.

That's why I'm all in with Ford's CEO on eliminating the dealership sales model and going direct sales. Best overall experience I ever had in 30 years of purchasing automobiles was directly buying from the manufacturer. Human communication including confirming the order and status was through email. Even if they charge me a little more, I'm all in

According to the article it said Ford will also enforce the dealer to sell for sticker and if they ask for additional markup they will lose their allocation for more.

Pathetic. Absolutely positively useless for towing. I'm shocked MT actually pointed out the glaring shortcomings, as they've turned into propaganda drivel right along with Car and Driver.

"Before you hitch an Airstream to your electric truck and set out to circumnavigate the country, you need to understand this: With the largest available battery pack, a fully charged 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck has less energy onboard than a regular F-150 with four gallons of gas in its tank."

Yep, these are less about what they tow and more about being faster, smoother, quieter, more innovative/advanced and generally much more interesting than their ICE alternatives. Oh, and not requiring gas at well over $6 per gallon here in CA. And the $7500 tax credit. They are selling for way over MSRP for those who have flipped them.

No one needs an F150 Lightning. You get one because you want one and because you can.

F-150's have been around forever, are extremely popular here, and I probably can count on one hand how many times I've seen one towing something significant, or even seeing something remotely heavy in the truck bed! I think the biggest load I've seen in the bed is my gardners with his lawnmower and pieces of gardening equipment maybe weighing 200 lbs

Worse range than expected which is what many of us called is more the point of my post, and that I'm shocked a magazine actually had a negative EV story for once.
