The Japanese are starting to buy Ioniq 5's as taxis. But this is what stuck out to me from the article:
So in Japan, you basically have no options for car insurance if you buy an EV. Japan is so far behind on EV's that they won't even acknowledge their existence in their home country.
“EV sales in Japan have yet to take off. One of the hurdles is that there’s hardly any insurance company that sells policies for EV owners since there’s no clear-cut EV insurance premium system established yet,” said an industry official.

Kudos to the Ionic 5 for winning MT. I think the car is adorable and super cute, one of my favourite EVs. Not a fan of the interior but it’s not terrible. I will say, it’s far too expensive for a Hyundai IMO. And too expensive for such a size. .. but it looks so cool.

i'm sure Ioniq 5 is a great EV, it gives Tesla Y a run for the money. but the problem with Korean car brands is, they keep changing/refreshing their models every year (or at least it seems that often). If i see any recent Hyundai or Kia model on the road right now, i wouldn't know which model year it is. you see a Camry, any Lexus model, Tesla, Honda, or any other brand you kind of know that. in another word, Hyundai model's identity and design language is keep changing year after year, to the point there isn't any identity for their vehicles design-wise.

i wish they made an ioniq without all the cheap looking silver lower cladding on it. the ev6 just looks odd from side and back to me.
but good for them for stirring it up and bringing some competition to tesla, although besides being EVs and their looks, they're pretty conventional in other ways.
