Not a bad idea for Tesla. Finding ways to cut costs is a smart move. If they can make it work…I imagine they might, perhaps other automakers will follow. Toyota is already using LiDar, stereo cameras and telescopic cameras with their new LS and Mirai for their advanced driving tech for 2022. My guess is that the entire industry will move away from radar and to a software based camera approach

I think you got my posts confused with these.
But I'm the one posting rhetoric. Alrighty then.

Its how they've been training their AI that really is the reason for getting rid of radar. They have billions of miles of driven road footage from all of their cars on the road and they input this into the AI so that its learning to drive like a human. Radar readings would supposedly make this much more difficult for the AI vs. just computer vision. Elon talks about this method in interviews and fully believes full computer vision is the best path forward for autonomous auto. Yes there are skeptics and other methods like LIDAR are out there but if he believes in this method, lets see where this leads. I've learned not to doubt too much with Elon's technical prowess.

No, its simple cost cutting. It is much simpler to develop self driving software that only processes input from the cameras, and such software is a lot less demanding on the hardware resources, but without redundancy Tesla's "FSD" system becomes even more of a joke than it already is.

This is literally the next version of FSD they are releasing in two weeks. He's been outlining this for the last 3 months, so you being completely ignorant of the facts and calling everyone that is sharing information fanboys, is pretty low rent.

1. It cost money to be added to each unit
2. It is not needed for FSD
Why not have radar removed from all models going forward?
