Why is radar better than a 10 camera vision AI system? Provide an example of radar only FSD.
Because radar doesn't mistaken the side of a white tractor trailer as the sky, decapitate it's driver as it goes under it, and continue driving for a third of a mile like a modern day, electrified headless horseman.
how about because radar can see through fog, rain, at night, etc.?
both are useful in their own ways.
It's hardly that simple. Radar gives a general map it cannot differentiate between objects anywhere near the granularity of vision. It's not close even compared to one camera. Stitch 10 cameras together into a 4D construct and you have a vastly superior system. The challenge is training software to be able to use the data correctly, the problem is not vision itself.
Let's see how this plays out, vision vs. lidar and radar or whatever combination other auto makers are using. How about this, predict which auto maker will have the best FSD system in 3 years.
If you have radar on the front bumper it can send out a ping that can bounce between the wheels of the car in the front and can detect two cars ahead. Tesla is making a mistake by removing some of the radar sensors. Nissan has been using this for years radar basically can see two cars ahead and brake the car early. No camera can see this.
This discussion is getting silly, its not about camera vs radar, autonomous cars should have as many redundant systems as possible. Elon has been absolutely reckless with his FSD nonsense and it just got even worse.

I actually LOL’d at that one, good one.
I do think Tesla is ahead of the curve on full self driving compared to other manufacturers so there has to be more to it than cost cutting.
