I think a Supra is far more interesting than a Tesla S. That’s an in-line 6?

You could never drive that Supra as a daily. A co-worker of mine years back had a modified Supra he mainly used on the track, it was only running around 500 or 600 hp and it was not pleasant to drive or drive in. I commend the owner for being able to push 1500 HP out of that I6, but other than nostalgia, I would take the Plaid as the daily commuter if it didn't have that stupid yoke...

If I ever by chance get the upcoming Toyota BEV, I assure you, it won't have a yoke

so the yoke is not coming to the USA But the Toyota with the yoke is gonna have some sort of steer by wire. Only need to do some 180 degree turn max, that is some interesting tech. Will be variable, on the degree of turn depending on where you are driving

That actually scares me. All my cars have electric assist steering (except my 2006 Camry), and if the power cuts or the steering ecu gets fried, I will still be able to steer, with some effort of course. What the heck do you do if the steering ecu goes out when using steering by wire? They better have some good backup plan

‘Tesla will have steer by wire as well. I think Toyota will have the tech first.

I could understand the yoke on the specialty Model S. It's a Lambo killer. I think it's overdone on a regular car. I could suffer a yoke on a Plaid model

Infiniti has offered optional "steer by wire" in the Q50 since 2014. I don't see it as a big deal. It does have a backup shaft should the system fail.

As long as there is a backup, I wouldn't want steering to go out because of an engine shutoff or bad battery

I’m telling you once you use the yoke you really start to like it. Like I said before, only about 10% of the time it really sucks. The other issue is if you are in a dangerous situation it’s gong to really suck.

The Plaid isn’t a good weekend fun car, it’s not that special. What it is is one hell of a daily driver.

That's what I was saying earlier when talking about the Supra. That modified Supra is awesome doing a run on the track, but using as a daily would be a no go. It's probably not even street legal in California. The Plaid on the other hand would be an awesome daily commuter and ultimate sleeper supercar killer

So I made my way from Maryland to Niagara Falls, NY and some of you were wondering if I would take the Plaid. As I was driving through the boonies to get here I kept looking out for any super chargers and didn’t see any around (although I’m sure they were out there somewhere). So from my house to Niagara Falls it’s a 6.5 hour drive. Using the Tesla app with two stops it would take me 8 hours to get here. Even without all the luggage we have I couldn’t waste that much time do it would be a no go for me in the Plaid.

You all on the west coast are ready for prime time, we aren’t quite there yet but I’m sure over time we will get there.
