Tesla Model S Plaid

That Supra wasn't trying that hard granny shifting that thing . That Plaid was limited at 162mph so the Supra flew by after that. Its amazing how much horsepower the car can handle given when the car launched. Only now can something match that thing in production form and basically have to be the next generation technology.
You could never drive that Supra as a daily. A co-worker of mine years back had a modified Supra he mainly used on the track, it was only running around 500 or 600 hp and it was not pleasant to drive or drive in. I commend the owner for being able to push 1500 HP out of that I6, but other than nostalgia, I would take the Plaid as the daily commuter if it didn't have that stupid yoke...
Anyway back to the Plaid .

1500HP is no joke, especially with a manual box, probably has a quad disk clutch. I drove a friends 1200HP Supra and I struggled with it even with it having drag radials. He has a Tilton Triple Disk clutch. No idea the Teslas had a speed limiter.
Yes, Turbo Inline 6. I like both cars.
Agreed my Supra isn't set up for daily driving, I'm on R Compound tires and a straight pipe Ti exhaust which alone rules out daily driving for me. It's definitely not unpleasant to drive I grin every time it hits boost . But as noted it isn't a practical car for daily driving for me, I have to be in the mood for the Supra plus DC area traffic sucks most days.

That track mode really does help. They put on carbon ceramics but it will be smaller than Tesla's own track pack option. C&D seems very impressed.

2022 Tesla Model S Plaid Beats Porsche Taycan Turbo S's Lap Record at VIR
A Model S Plaid just lapped the Grand Course at Virginia International Raceway in 2:50.7 seconds–4.5 ticks quicker than a Taycan Turbo S turned at our '21 Lightning Lap.https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...-vir-lap-time/

C&D seemed impressed that an almost stock car (front brake upgrade) could get those times with Track Mode. If you look at the Tesla forums, people have gotten good times at VIR stock (3 min flat) with stock Model 3 Performance with Track Mode (amateur drivers too). 2 min 50s is very fast for a car like the Plaid which is 10s faster than that and 5s faster than the fastest Taycan. Seems EVs can do things other than straight line performance

looks great! fit and finish looks decent too except it appears they still can't get the tail lights even (left looks high, right looks low).

Gorgeous pictures!
Why is there a Model 3 on the center screen, though?
