The Plaid is a crazy car. The stock brakes are not up to the task of slowing the car after a few hard applications. The track mode brakes are, but will feel inappropriate in normal use because they need to heat up to work properly.
But what a car!

that is an awesome package. with the power on tap i think some of that should have come with all plaid cars.

edit: just saw price is $15k. a bit steep, but that' some serious hardware/software and good to have oem stuff.

Love those wheels...

$15K for that package is cheap, MB charges more than that just for the CC brakes.

+100000 may be expensive but if u price things out separately in the aftermarket, it's even more.....and this is installed as well!

- carbon ceramic rotors - $8k
- forged brakes - $6k
- wheels + tires - $5k

This is all backed by Tesla as well....

That's what I'm thinking too.
If you're going Plaid, why not go all the way!

^^^ great video, especially when he 'lost it' with factory wheels.

have no doubt the forged 20s and race tires make a huge difference.

would love to know how much lighter they are.

i doubt forged 20" make any difference is this car.

But semi-slicks definitely do.

Apparently car does detect brake package and gets setup differently, and one of the videos said it also detects semi-slicks.

For a such a heavy car, seems to be doing really well on track now.

That is a Great improvement for Model S!
The brakes and wheels should reduce a good amount of unsprung weight.

Surprisingly, even for such a heavy car, it is very responsive to dropping any weight, especially reciprocating like wheels/rotors. When I did mine, I dropped my 60-130 times by .2 seconds.

The 200mph is unlocked via a FW update to note you have the updated brake package.

Keep in mind the Goodyear 3Rs are still 200TW tires and not really semi-slicks (100tw).

Wow $15k for all that is a steal. It was first listed over a year ago that it would be $20k just for CCB’s!

losing rotating unsprung weight can and usually does make a huge difference in handling.

I agree and it’s not just the wheels, the CCBs are much lighter and combined with the wheels it makes a big difference.
