Tesla just put a stop ship on the Plaid and Long range S. Let's see if my prediction comes true that they have to recall all of them due to a battery pack issue.

I live in probably one of the strongest (top 10 maybe?) Tesla capitals in the world Irvine. I see modded Teslas increasingly frequency. Track /wheel tire setups, lowered etc. Not a TON but I do see them here and there.

Doesn't turn my head though really. I'm past the age/era/stage in my life where a modified car gets my attention unless because it's rare or some other way. In the same way a turkey crossing the road might get my attention because you don't see it every day.

according to "mrexitstrategy" on reddit:

Update 7/23/21: Looks like several people have now reported that the hold has been LIFTED! And that we all should get our cars in the next couple of days!!! Someone mentioned it was a firmware update and that they needed to validate the cars.

Doubt it. It’s not like the Plaid is a high volume car.

All versions of the Model S/X get the yoke.

I thought there was going to be a standard wheel option? The yoke alone would keep me from buying the car.

The yoke is guaranteed to kill a bunch of sales.

And people. A car that gets up to 155 MPH in 9 seconds for the 1/4 with half of the steering wheel missing...what could go wrong? I am stunned this made it in to production. People are going to reach for something not there while exploiting the insane acceleration, and crash and burn.

I'm shocked they are allowed to sell the yoke in the US.

It's a matter of safety, that yoke wheel. I'm blown away by Tesla acceleration even if they're not my thing. Half a steering wheel is ludicrous in any fast car (or really, any car at all IMO), let alone the damn Plaid model.

People will reach for something not there and crash.

Remember, by the time you've read this sentence the Plaid is at 100MPH or more I'd say.

I think it isn't just when going fast, but as much as when making a full turn at slow speeds, when parking for instance. Not to mention at times I want one or both hands somewhere in the 10 to 2 range. And rarely there are the times when I want my knee to steady the wheel in the 6 o'clock position.

I will say having all the controls on the wheel is great.

Without variable ratio steering and rear wheel steer, the yoke is an even bigger disaster.

9.18 not bad, I wonder if we'll see an under 9 second 1/4 at some point.
