When you say the "un-rich" does that include the middle class? If there is even very good to good enthusiasm from the middle class that's huge and would insure EV's have a future.

Yes, there are only 2 factories right now, Fremont and Giga Shanghai. They build in groups differing by location. If Fremont is building the Model 3 or Model Y for Europe you will have to wait until they switch back to US. Also, they do get to pick and choose what to build becasue of demand. As Shanghai ramps, it will take demand off Fremont.
Giga Austin (later this year) will be the biggest car plant in the world. It will supply Model 3 and Y for Mid West and East. Giga Berlin (late late 2021 or early 2022) will service Europe.
Austin will build the (butt ugly) Cybertruk.
Shanghai is also designing and will build the "Model 2", which is the $25K Tesla. The new LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery is now offered in the Model 3 Standard Range Plus, which is cheaper and can charge to 100% with less degredation. Of course this is key to acheiving the price point.
Once production starts to keep up with demand, Fremont will get back on the long-delayed Roadster 2. I think they will initially build the SEMI in Giga Nevada, but that will move to Austin.
Of course this is Elon time... And he's whack, right?

The LFP can last a million miles with something like a 5000 charge cycle. It's also much less combustible to boot. Issue is that the 55kwh pack is roughy 200 lbs heavier and not as high output so you aren't going to be putting it in the more powerful models. The new standard range plus has this option and that is the model I would get if I were buying that model vs the NMC batteries. The other disadvantage of the LFP is that it loses more range in the cold...probably like 10% more so again, not right for everyone. But charging to 100% everyday with barely any degradation over many years may be worth the trade offs to many people.

And it's cheaper. I believe you are correct; it seems to be a poor fit for the more powerful cars. I guess it fit in the Model 3 because the car is designed for a bigger battery.
It seems as though you have a sound understanding of the LFP battery. I can see Tesla recycled ones used for home solar storage and other purposes because of their properties.

Face it, you're stuck in the past. 🙂 BEV's have already taken off. That's how it starts - a small percentage that you always mention and it will only go up, incentives or not.

tesla has no federal incentives in the u.s. and is still able to sell everything they can build.

LexsCTJill - i just took a look...

last year in the u.s., tesla came pretty close to VW sales, tesla outsold Mazda, Lexus, and more than doubled Cadillac's. Pretty impressive!

Yeah..Tesla does do ok with their sales. But subtract Tesla and what is the percentage of EV sales? Let’s discuss again,…maybe when EV sales are at 5%in like 2028

No, it's still slower than some ICE sedans (e.g. GT63S, Panamera Turbo, etc.) with much less horsepower.

The German Autobahn is like an air strip.

Just because those cars are better handlers doesn't mean the Plaid is a poor handler. It just means it's not as good as those cars. In 99% of all other situations, the Plaid is simply a faster vehicle.

Wow, that was a very quick 180 turn there once you're faced with facts......

The problem is there are far more numbers of those other cars that are faster the the Plaid. So, your math is wrong.

Slow is a relative word. What is slow on the German Autobahn is illegal in North America.
