The Model S HAD leather when it first launched, it does not anymore.

The vegan leather is 100% in line with Tesla's selling proposition, I don't see any reason for them to offer real leather.

This is why the Lucid if it gets any traction as a brand will steal lotttts of sales from Tesla away with the Air. It's seriously luxurious in there.

People want luxury in $150k cars.

Luxury means different things to different people. Tons of people buy Teslas, they have their own selling proposition and their own aesthetic and they do the right thing by staying true to that.

Teslas are not very luxurious inside, at all. Objectively. The screens are cool but the materials and fit and finish are terrible.

The latest generation of them (refresh S and X) are WAY better in this regard.

But the point is, obviously people don't care ...

The Model S and X are both comfortable and somewhat luxurious, but people who buy them don't really care about that. Also fit and finish is now pretty good. My co-worker had his Model 3 delivered last month and no issues with quality so far

Its funny...the material's aren't BMW level but better than a mainstream Camcord. The quality can be widely varying...my car has rattles when its cold but goes away after a couple minutes of driving . Couple of my friends have perfect cars...one had to take it to the service center 5 times for various quality issues. I wouldn't recommend a Tesla to a Lexus diehard as Lexus is about quality and reliability while Tesla is about technology and sport which is the polar opposite of Lexus' core competencies. Lexus the the complete opposite of Tesla.

I am not trying to start another 40 page debate but “my (expensive) car rattles some cold mornings” is absolutely unacceptable IMO. No excuse in the world for that, yes I’m a Lexus die hard but if I drove a Chevy I’d say the same thing.

The short answer is a Tesla is not for you, the same as a Ford or Chevy is not for me. One reason I leased a Polestar over a Tesla is I liked the fact that the Polestar has excellent fit and finish, better ride and has a more normal interior. I sacrificed the longer range and better drivetrain from the Model 3 because I wanted comfort and normalcy over the additional range and better drivetrain efficiency offered by Tesla. Their simplistic cabin styling and layout was just not for me

Idk if he meant he hears “regular” rattles or if the whole car rattles, it sort of sounded like the latter since he said it goes away after the car warms up.

I’ve never had a “regular” rattle in any car except my first 1993 Ford.
