Default Mustang Mach-E is Car & Driver's EV of the Year

C&D created a new award this year for EV of the Year and the Mustang Mach-E won: https://electricvehicleforums.com/ar...ach-e-ev-year/

What's your pick for EV of the Year?

The Porsche Taycan gets my vote. It’s an incredible car.

Please. Any EV is years behind the Teslas.
They have all fallen far short of promises and expectations.

I'd say the Etron GT RS as its the most beautiful car of the lot

I'd probably give it to the F-150 Lightning, unless C&D is going to make a separate new category for EV Truck of the year.

might want to read why car and driver (who is presenting the award) was unimpressed by the model Y

https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...otyteslamodely

And in C&D's tests, the Mach E's range consistently beat the vaunted model y (performance).

the Mach E is quieter, more comfortable, more 'normal', better built, better riding. The model Y is of course faster though.

The Polestar 2 is my favorite of the lot (primarily because I prefer its design over the Mustang Mach E).

The Audi e-tron GT RS wasn't one of the contenders because it was a euro spec model and Audi did not give it to C&D for testing (same with the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo).

That has been Tesla's problem all along... Ford/GM have a ~100 year head start on manufacturing and can put together a decent vehicle. Tesla is playing catch up in that department.

Honestly I don't think they are playing catch up in the quality of fit and finish. I think it's deliberately done badly to save time and produce more cars which in turn is meant to keep the stock price high.

Tesla's stock price is primarily determined by the demand for that stock....not necessary by the quality of their vehicles. The company has essentially become a cult. My opinion (not necessarily fact) is that the company would not deliberately (or mindlessly) produce lemons on the assembly-line just to pump the production numbers up...Chrysler tried that, decade ago, and look where it got them. Elon Musk may be a bozo and eccentric in some ways, but he is also an experienced businessman, one of the richest people on the planet, and he knows where his bread and butter comes from.

I'll admit, though, that the Mach-E Mustang, even though I have not personally seen it, inspected it, or test-driven it yet, is likely to have better assembly quality....although Ford itself has not had a very good record in introducing new models recently without teething-problems.
