Also, FYI, tires are not to be rotated since the rim sizes are different from front and back. The tires are the same but the rims are marked ‘front’ and ‘back’ so when tires are replaced they end up in the right corners

In terms of first scheduled maintenance, I remember that it was due at 2 years or 20k miles, which is fantastic. Pretty care-free if you ask me!
Thanks! If that's the case, I will only be bringing it in once during my ownership

Customers will eventually just ignore dealers on maintenance when all they do is inspections. That service revenue is drying up fast so dealers better start thinking about ways to consolidate and cut costs for the future.

I asked my mechanic what is he going to do when all his customers go EV, he said retire. He didn't say it very enthusiastically

thank you very much for the review, looks like everything is great so far

one thing i want to consider is the service center / services / wait. it was one of the reasons why i didn't consider tesla earlier -- if something happens i want my car fixed / serviced in a timely fashion. when i got my tesla there was a sales/service center 3 miles away from me and by now there are more around town. that's a big plus.

hopefully towards middle of the year when i start shopping around, polestar continues to improve and i have more options to choose from!

The way Polestar works is they come and pick up your car and leave you a loaner while they service it. Not sure what "servicing" entails, probably mostly inspection and probably running diagnostics, which by the way can be run from the infotainment system. The drivetrain and battery packs are warrantied 8 years/100,000 miles, but the drivetrains (this is a dual motor) can probably easily go 300K. As far as how they handle breakdowns, they have an 800 number where they will tow your car to the nearest facility, since you live in OC I believe they have a Polestar space in Laguna Beach (Polestar South Coast)

It shows on the Infotainment screen. If you go to Car > More > Car Status > Service - it will tell you exactly how many number of days until your next service

One other thing I forgot to mention in the review, if you need Roadside assistance, you just hit the button at the top to call into their assistance center

I have this option on my 11 year old Lexus, and it still works! Since the subscription is expired, it asks if it can route me to a rep to renew the subscription

yup i think that's the closest to me. i just hope they don't get overwhelmed with cars. i still remember when tsla was hit by tons of cars at service center when model 3 was released

That's always a risk when you adopt technology from a newer startup, but the good news is Polestar is backed by Volvo and their resources. By joining the Polestar forum I learned that a lot of software that runs on the Polestar is also used in some Volvos. 29,000 units have been sold so far, and no major issues at this point

Polestar South Coast is just a "Space" (a showroom). Cars are actually serviced by Volvo Cars Mission Viejo.

Excellent review. The Polestar sounds like a good option for a lot owners. Enjoy your beautiful car!
I am really happy they are stepping up support in case anything happens. These are new vehicles; anything can happen. They are prepared!
