^ Looks like EA offers Polestar owners 2 years of free charging in 30 minute increments @ 150kW. If he went above 30 minutes, that would likely be the amount charged.

I think you have to drive around awhile before it lets you do that.

Yep, went over the 30 minute mark. It had already reached 80 percent, I wanted to get it a little over 90 percent as a buffer... charging slows down to almost a crawl after 80 percent so they started charging me. That amount is so insignificant it doesn't bother me

How much would you have spent on your one-way trip if you didn't have free charging?

It would have costed total for both charging sessions $35 (one way) if I would have had to pay. It would have been $100 at the gas station if I took my Lexus or Sienna

I didn’t know that’s how the EA free charging is structured. Good to know. I guess it is kind of similar to Tesla’s idle fees. They don’t want you sticking around longer than is necessary. But since charging is so slow after 80%, I don’t really understand why EA/Polestar is so stingy about it. Still much cheaper overall though.

To be fair, this is the first time I've been charged in 4 months. I was down to 21 percent. There is also some software issue with the Polestar with the 350kW chargers where the rate is really slow...if I had used the 150kW charger I would have been fine. EA has excellent customer service, if I call them they would remove the charge immediately

I'm glad as well. It was so uneventful, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Now I can finally put this chapter hopefully to rest ☺️

Do the rates fluctuate with time-of-day? If so, does the UI tell you what the current charging price rate is when you’re enroute?

Not with EA. They have two rates, one is the non member guest rate for the public which is .43 cents per kWh, the member rate is $4 per month and .31 cents per kWh. Never changes. Right now since I'm technically not a member, rates show as .43 cents per kWh

Don’t know if that’s true..I’ve heard on the Polestar Forum people were able to start another 30 minute charging session right after.

I do it all the time, just don't tell EA. Once you stop your initial 30 minute charge, unplug and wait for the unit to be available again (1-2 minutes) then rinse and repeat.
